 Aircel is a mobile phone services provider in India.


 It offers both prepaid and postpaid GSM cellular phone coverage
through out Tamil Nadu including Chennai, Andhra Pradesh,
Delhi, Assam, North east India, Orissa, west Bengal, Jammu and
Kashmir, Bihar, Karnataka etc
 Aircel was founded by NRI businessman C Sivasankaran. Aircel is
a joint venture between Maxis Communications Berthed of
Malaysia and Apollo Hospital Enterprise Ltd of India.
 It is India’s seventh largest GSM mobile service provider with a
subscriber base of over 18 million.
 It has a market share of 6.3% among the GSM operators in the
country.

 Aircel limited was formerly known as Srinivas welcome limited and
changed in name to aircel limited.
 The company was incorporated in 1994 and based in Gurgaon.
 Aircel is a mobile phone service provider in India .
 It is a joint venture between Maxis communication of Malaysia and
Apollo hospital enterprise limited of India.
 It is 7th larger mobile provider with a subscriber 18 million.
 It has a market share of 6.3% among the GSM operators in the country.
 It is a private company, founded in 1999.
 Head quarters Chennai, Tamil Nadu & Industry Telecommunications.
 Owners Maxis communication 74% and Apollo hospital enterprise
limited 26%.

It has three year managed service hosting


agreement with Ericsson, to provide Aircel with a
consumer push email service.
The company has also tied up with Wipro for its
nine years NGN contract.
Recently company has tied up with Oracle for
implementation of Oracle Communications
Services Fulfillment suite.
Company is also looking forward to acquire Loop
Telecom (Former BPL Mobile) .
The Future

Aircel needs to concentrate simultaneously on to rural In coming


months completing major rollouts & acquiring decent sub-base will be
the major target for Aircel.

Will Aircel be able to acquire decent subscriber base & if it is, how will
it maintain it, with churn rate reaching it to top at 3.3 %?

May be it will adopt merger & acquisition route or it will bet on highly
competitive tariff pricing along with VASs.

There lies a very tough competition ahead.

The Advantage

 Aircel has no such advantages as compared to other operators, its


main strong point is :

 Its strong financial backing from Maxis. A total of $10 billion has
been kept aside for investment till 2011 along with commitment
of over $5 billion for countrywide capex rollouts through 2009
.
 The NGN expertise of Maxis telecom in more mature markets
like Malaysia especially with 3G & WiMAX.

 Certainly help Aircel, in 3G rollouts in India, provided it gets


license for operation.

in order to increase the market share.
They should be cost conscious
Innovation & new product development.
Target to youngsters to attractive and pointed out in Metros.
To ensure Network to impress customer.
To roped Film star, Cricketer to developed brand image.
To focus rural areas to increase subscriber.
Enhance the internal control system by emphasizing on fixing duties
