POLYETHYLENE
• Polyethylene (PE), light, versatile synthetic resin made from the polymerization of ethylene.
Polyethylene is a member of the important family of polyolefin resins. It is the most widely
used plastic in the world, being made into products ranging from clear food wrap and shopping
bags to detergent bottles and automobile fuel tanks. It can also be slit or spun into synthetic fibers
or modified to take on the elastic properties of a rubber.
• One of the toughest plumbing system pipe materials around, hdpe works well for nearly all
plumbing uses. It’s durable, flexible and resists corrosion well. These pipes are available in long
lengths, and any joints necessary are made using heat fusion, which is almost leak-proof. HDPE
conserves water pressure because it creates minimal “drag” or friction that reduces water pressure.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF POLYETHYLENE?
• Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) is a very flexible material with very unique
flow properties that makes it particularly suitable to plastic film applications
like shopping bags. LDPE has high ductility but low tensile strength which is
evident in the real world by its propensity to stretch when strained.
• Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) is very similar to LDPE with the
added advantage that the properties of LLDPE can be altered by adjusting
the formula constituents and that the overall production process for LLDPE is
typically less energy intensive than LDPE.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF POLYETHYLENE?
• High Density Polyethylene Pipe (HDPE) is a thermoplastic pipe made from material
that can be melted and reformed. It is rugged, flexible, and durable. It has
outstanding chemical and environmental stress crack resistance.
• Relative to existing infrastructure, like ductile iron, concrete or PVC, HDPE seems like
a new product. In reality, it has been successfully used in a wide variety of piping
applications for over 50 years.
• The outstanding physical and performance benefits of HDPE pipe make it the perfect
choice for piping systems.
ADVANTAGES OF POLYETHYLENE
The advantages of the pipes produced from the PE80 and PE100 material
include:
• The material is absolutely non-toxic and fully inert in contact with water,
• No impact on odour and taste of water
• No deposits of lime are formed and consequently there is no narrowing of the gauge
of water passage over long-term use,
• UV-resistant and resistant to temperatures -30°C do +60°C,
• Very low loss of pressure owing to friction coefficient 10 times lower than in steel
pipes,
• Easy assembly,
• Easy for transport and handling
HDPE PIPES FOR WASTE WATER
There are several different pipe materials available for wastewater
collection systems, each with a unique characteristic used in different conditions.
DRAINAGE PIPES ( DRAINAGE SYSTEM )
• The term drainage defines removing excess water from land. This has been
quite common since the last 200 years. Although water collection occurs
naturally but by means of drainage this natural process is expedited.
• Most important usage of drains is in agriculture with the purpose of removing
excess water of irrigation or rainfall. Applying underground drainage system
provides the balance Waste Water pvc Pipe between water & oxygen of soil
EXAMPLE PIPES USED FOR WASTE WATER
POLYETHYLENE DOUBLE WALL CORRUGATED PIPE
• a new type of plastic pipe . The smooth inside wall and the
corrugated outside wall provides character with high strength,
low weight, corrosion resistance, long life, easy install and easy
join.
PVC PIPES
• used in all conceivable applications ranging from Agriculture to
sanitation, bore well to electrical ducts because of low cost, low
pressure features they became favorites of all farmers, builders and
government departments.
