Good to know beforehand:

What does daily routine mean?
Daily routine refers to something that you do every day frequently without any change.

1. In pairs, match the picture with its answer.

a. Play the guitar. b. Brush my teeth. c. Wash the dishes. d. Read a book.

2. 3.1 Complete the conversation. Listen and check.

Kenia: Hi, Adrian!

Adrian: Hi.
Kenia: What time do you usually get up?
Adrian: Umm, I usually get up at eight.
Kenia: That’s nice!
Adrian: Not really, because I have to go to work, and I don't have time to make breakfast.
Kenia: Maybe you can wake up earlier and have time to do a lot of things.
Adrian: I can try it but I’m not a morning person, so it’s going to be a bit difficult.
Kenia: Don’t worry, you can set your alarm.

Earlier: When something happens before the usual time.
Morning person: A person who wakes up early in the morning.

 Grammar Simple Present

This tense is used for expressing habits, routines, and true facts.

Affirmative Negative
I work in a call center. I don't work in a call center.
She takes the bus to school. She doesn't take the bus to school.
We read a book per week. We don’t read a book per week.

Reminder: Add (s) to the verb when you have a third person pronoun (he, she, it) and for
the negative form use (does not/ doesn't) before the verb. The first rule applies just with
regular verbs, also if the verb ends with “y” you have to put -ies- (in some cases).

4. Put in order the following actions. Compare with your classmates.

5. Read the article about a famous artist’s routine. Then, answer the questions.

Jennie Kim is a South Korean singer. The first thing she

does when she gets up in the morning at 7 o’clock is to feed
her dog Minnie. Then, she brushes her teeth, takes a
shower, and makes a light breakfast. If she has time, she
does some yoga at the park. At 1:30 she eats lunch while she
talks with her boyfriend. After that she takes dance classes
and returns home. When she arrives home, she eats dinner
while she watches a TV show and finally goes to sleep at
12:00 am.

 Grammar Simple Present and Adverbs of Frequency

Remember! The simple present tense is used for expressing habits, routines, and true
facts. Adverbs of frequency tell us how often something happens.

Examples:
Does Mike play the piano? No, he plays the guitar.
Do you work in La Sirena? Yes, I work there.

How often does he play it? He usually plays on the weekends.

How often are you late? I’m never late.

Grammar Wh- Questions

These are words that we use to ask questions about anything, and they help you to
collect information. The questions words are:
What: This refers to an action or thing. Who: This refers to a person.
Where: This refers to a place. When: This refers to the time something happened.
Why: This refers to the reason. How: This refers to the way something happened.

Example:
How do you make that paint?
Reminder: We usually form these questions: Wh + an auxiliary verb (be, do, have) +
subject+ main verb+ complement.

My hobbies
I am Maria Hernandez, I am twenty-five years old, and I work as an
accountant* for a company. I work daily from 8 in the morning to 6 in
the evening and when I get home, I make my dinner and rest until the
next day, but I have free weekends to rest.
On those weekends I like to be quiet and thus be able to enjoy my
different hobbies. I really like to play instruments (like the guitar and
the piano), read books, mainly mysteries, since I like to try to solve them by reading them and
taking photos.
I would like to have someone to share my hobbies with. I have co-workers* but they prefer to
watch tv or go shopping and they think that reading is boring, and I don't like those kinds of
activities, so I usually enjoy my free time alone*, but I still enjoy what I do.

Carla: Hello Tom. How are you?

Tom: Hi Carla, I’m fine and you?

Carla: I’m fine too. Hey, do you have free time?

Carla: Because I want to play chess and I do not have anybody to play it, I asked Luis, but he is
