Block 11 – The Corner Store

Hosted by Pat Sloan At Ilovetomakequilts.com

The corner store, Penny store, local Five & Dime, or the hardware
store. These really are the mainstay of our town. I have great
memories of the ‘Squires’ the corner store by my grandmother.
It had a small counter to order subs, it had candy, milk, the Block is 12.5” x 12.5”
newspaper, all the things we need to pick up. Finished size 12” x 12”
Living in Belgium we had a gas station that filled that bill for a long time. It was just a few
doors down and we could pick up a few things.

In the cities I love the street vendors that fill this need. Grab your coffee, a magazine, and
away you go! For a few months I worked in DC on a contract for the Census Bureau.
I loved all the street vendors.

When you share your block, tell me about your towns spot to get what you need!
