RD0550-XX

Dual Band 800/900 MHz Dual TMA with 1710-2690 MHz Bypass

This full band 800 900 MHz dual band,

Dual Tower Mounted Amplifier is based
on the RD0543 with an integrated
High/Low band diplexer giving an
additional 1710-2690 MHz low loss,
high power bypass path. The design
eliminates the need for a separate
High/Low combiner and its associated
mounting kit and jumper cables. The
dual TMA is AISG/3GPP compliant and
also supports Current Window Alarming
for non-AISG systems. The RD0550 is
available with 7-16 connectors or 4.3-10
connectors.

Options

CWA Alarm Current and AISG Device Representation

The RD0550 can be configured with two CWA limits, namely, 180 mA or 250 mA [1].
The RD0550 has five AISG device representation modes [2]. The modes enable the Dual Band TMA to be
represented in different formats depending upon the BTS deployed. These modes are summarised as follows:
Mode 1: 2sn - 2su - Two separate devices are represented for the TMA [high band/low band], each with two subunits [main/div]
Mode 2: 1sn - 4su - One device represents the TMA [high band/low band], with four subunits [main HB, div HB, main LB, div LB]
Mode 3: 1sn - 2su LB - One device represents the TMA [Low Band frequencies reported], with two subunits [main/div]
Mode 4: 1sn - 2su HB - One device represents the TMA [High Band frequencies reported], with two subunits [main/div].
Mode 5: 1sn - 2su WB - One device represents the TMA [Band Limit frequencies reported], with two subunits [main/div].

DC and AISG Connection Options

The RD0550 can be configured to route AISG control and DC power signals from BTS1 (or BTS2) to either ANT1
1710-2690 MHz or ANT2 1710-2690 MHz port. The integrated dual band TMA can have power and AISG control
signals fed to it via either BTS1 or BTS2.

A short circuit detection circuit is employed on the ANTx 1710-2690 MHz Ports. This circuit checks for a short circuit
at the port – if one is detected, the DC voltage and AISG signals are not routed to that port.

The RD0550 can be configured to operate in either Single AISG Master or Dual AISG Master Mode [3]. In Single AISG
Master Mode, one AISG Master controls both the integrated dual band TMA and any Antenna Line Device (ALD)
connected to the ANTx 1710-2690 MHz port. If the RD0550 is factory configured for Single AISG Master Operation,
the Single AISG Master can be connected to BTS 1 or BTS 2. DC and AISG signals are routed to the ANTx 1710-2690
MHz ports as desired [4].

In Dual AISG Master Mode, one AISG master controls the integrated dual band TMA and a further AISG master,

controls the Antenna Line Device (ALD) connected to one of the ANTx 1710-2690 MHz ports. In this instance each
AISG Master must be connected to a different BTS port. If the RD0550 is factory configured for Dual AISG Master
Operation the AISG Master that controls the integrated TMA can be connected to BTS1 or BTS2 [3]. The second AISG
master must be connected to the other BTS port - DC and AISG signals are then further routed to one of the ANTx
1710-2690 MHz ports as desired [4].

The RD0550 is completely flexible and can be re-configured for either Single or Dual AISG Master Operation in the
field. Moreover, the ANTx 1710-2690 MHz port to which DC and AISG signals are routed can be
re-allocated also.

Ordering Information

E.g. RD0550-180-1-D1-2 is an RD0550 with 180 mA CWA, 2sn - 2su Device Representation, Dual AISG Master, integrated
TMA controlled via BTS 1 and AISG and DC signals passed through to the ANT2 1710-2690 MHz port from BTS2. Once a
configuration has been selected by a customer, Radio Design will assign a unique part number that can be used for all
subsequent orders. The part number will be in the format RD0550-XX (where XX is a 2 digit number) and will be clearly
visible on the device’s product label.
