Top tips for preparing for your Writing Exam!
The exam is 75 minutes. Remember you must complete three tasks in this time.
You do not need to exceed the word limit for any question. You can score full marks by writing the
required amount.
Question 1: the 90-word writing task: You will have a choice of two questions.
There will always be four bullet points in each question. You
must cover them all: try to write two sentences for each.
One of the bullet points will require the past tense and another
will require the future tense work out which tenses is needed
for each bullet point before you start writing and ensure you use
the correct tense.

Question 2: the 150-word writing You will have a choice of two questions.
task: There are only two bullet points to cover here. Try to write 75
words for each.
One of the bullet points will require you to write about a situation
or an event. This will require you to use the past tense.
Try to include lots of extra-details and a wide variety of
structures in this question.
You must include justified opinions.
Use connectives to extend your ideas: aunque, dado que,
cuando, si, porque, dado que etc.
Use a range of structures: infinitive phrases, different tenses,
some negative sentences, conditional sentences etc. Show off
your best language here!

Before you start writing, read the full translation carefully and
decide which tense you will need for each verb.
Deal with each sentence separately. Break the text down and

specific word, can you express the same idea in a different way?
Check tenses and adjectival agreement carefully.
