Server Edition, Installation and Upgrades – Overview
 A single distribution contains the software components for the whole solution:
– Includes server and user applications, as well as phone and Avaya Office 500 firmware
 Avaya servers come with distribution preinstalled.
 Linux servers support a web-based “ignition” process to personalize them for their
intended use:
– Primary, Secondary, Linux Expansion, or one-X® Portal server
 A simple, single screen utility (Initial Configuration Utility) is run automatically to
allow an Avaya Office device to be centrally detected and administered as part of
the solution.
 Upgrades are automated, solution-wide, and centrally managed.

Note:
Installation and upgrades can be done from a USB stick as well
as from a DVD, with R11 for Server Edition.

IP Office for Linux Installation
 IP Office for Linux is a single DVD/USB installation for selected IP Office for Linux
applications.

 The Linux operating system is included as part of the installation. However,

installation requires minimal Linux knowledge due to the inclusion of a web-based
management interface, which allows the server to be managed remotely by way of
a web browser.

 No access to the Linux command line is used except for changing the root user
password.

 Using the Linux command line to perform any other actions may cause
unexpected operation of the IP Office for Linux and is not supported by Avaya
except when specifically instructed by Avaya.
