Requirements
Note:
Installation and upgrades can be done from a USB stick as well
as from a DVD, with R11 for Server Edition.
No access to the Linux command line is used except for changing the root user
password.
Using the Linux command line to perform any other actions may cause
unexpected operation of the IP Office for Linux and is not supported by Avaya
except when specifically instructed by Avaya.
Note:
The installation software can be downloaded from the Avaya
Support web site http://support.avaya.com/products.
Web Management
The IP Office for Linux server is configured and managed remotely using web
browser access. Web Management is used for basic user and hunt group
configuration, setting up services, doing backups and restores, and performing
upgrades, which we will see in a later lesson.
Media Manager
With the introduction of Release 10.1 software, the Media Manager is available.
Media Manager allows the recording of calls and provides a search-and-replay
option for playing them back at a later date.
Web Browser
A web browser is used for access to the web control pages of the server.
A browser is also used to access the one-X® Portal for IP Office applications
administration menus.
SSH Client
Access to a program that supports SFTP/SSH, for example, SSH Secure Shell, is
useful but not required.
