Speech Writing
In writing a speech, you have to outline your thoughts and ideas. It helps
cognitive learning and critical thinking process, and allows you to organize your
thoughts into full sentences or phrases. Speech writing helps you really think about
what you want to say and allows you to recognize gaps. Speech writing is also
considered the art of giving your audience a message and the reason for writing is
to inform, explain or persuade and entertain.
Before writing process takes place you must consider the following:

• WHO, you are writing your speech

for (the audience)
• WHY, do you need to write for
them (specific purpose)
• WHAT, your speech is going to be
about (its subject)
• HOW long it needs to be
(duration)

 One of the most popular concerns of speakers is that they simply do not know how to
start writing a speech. Sometimes many are still hesitant to begin their write-ups,
though; some experience speakers also get ideas about how to begin their
presentations as they go through the process of researching and organizing ideas.

 Speech writing is very distinct from formal or literary writing. Speech writing is meant
to be done, and you write as you would speak, therefore. Studying its principle is
important because speech is ultimately the best means of persuasion. If you ever want
to convince someone of anything, in a face-to-face interaction, it tends to happen if you
are good in talking.

• Audience analysis entails looking into the profile of your target audience. demography
(age range, male-female ratio, educational background and affiliations or degree
program taken, nationality, economic status, academic or corporate designations
• Purpose what is the reason for your writings? It includes time, venue, occasion,
and size of the crowd values, beliefs, attitudes, preferences, cultural and racial
ideologies, and needs.
• The topic is the focal point of your speech, which can be determined once you have
decided on your purpose.
• Narrowing down a topic means making your main idea more specific and focused.
• Data gathering is the stage where you collect ideas, information, sources, and
references relevant or related to your specific topic.
• Writing patterns, in general, are structures that will help you organize the ideas related
to your topic. Examples are biographical, categorical/topical, causal, chronological,
comparison/contrast, problem-solution, and spatial.
• Outline is a hierarchical list that shows the relationship of your ideas.
• Body of the speech provides explanations, examples, or any details that can help you
deliver your purpose and explain the main idea of your speech.
• Introduction is the foundation of your speech. Here, your primary goal is to get the
attention of your audience and present the subject or main idea of your speech.
• Conclusion restates the main idea of your speech. Furthermore, it provides a
summary, emphasizes the message, and calls for action.
• Editing/Revising your written speech involves correcting errors in mechanics, such
as grammar, punctuation, capitalization, unity, coherence, and others

Three Basic Parts of Speech Writing

Introduction
The foundation of the speech, in which the goal is to get the attention of the audience
and present the subject or main idea of your speech. The introduction of the speech
establishes the first, crucial contact between the speaker and the audience. For most
classroom speeches, the introduction should last less than a minute.
*Introduction of Essay*
A. Write a few sentences that lead into the main point of your essay.
B. End the paragraph with your thesis statement (3 main points you are going to
support)
1. First point in thesis
2. Second point in thesis
3. Third point in thesis

Body of Speech
Provides explanations, examples, or any details that can help you deliver your purpose
and explain the main idea of your speech. In the body, the fewer the main points, the better
First Point in Thesis
• Support your point with either quotations or solid evidence
• Have at least five sentences. Second Point in Thesis
• Support your point with either quotations or solid evidence
• Have at least five sentences Third Point in Thesis
• Support your point with either quotations or solid evidence
• Have at least five sentences

Conclusion
Restates the main idea of the speech, provides a summary, emphasizes the message,
and calls for action. The aim is to leave the audience with a memorable statement. The
conclusion should be somewhat shorter than the introduction and accomplishes two purposes:
summarize main ideas and give the speech a sense of closure and completion. Good
conclusions might refer back to the introduction, offer an analogy or metaphor that captures
the main idea, or leave the audience with a question or a challenge of some type. Brief
quotations can also make effective conclusions (just as they can make effective openings for
introductions).

A. Write a few sentences summarizing your essay.

B. Restate your thesis and how you proved your point.

➢ Read the article.

My countrymen:

You have called upon me to assume the highest office within our gift. I accept the trust
humbly and gratefully. My sole determination is to be President for the people. The office of
President is the highest in the land. It can be the humblest also, if we regard it - as we must
- in the light of basic democratic principles. The first of these principles is the declaration of
the Constitution that "sovereignty resides in the people and all government authority
emanates from them." This simply means that all of us in public office are but servants of
the people. As I see it, your mandate in the past election was not a license for the selfish
enjoyment of power by any man or group of men. On the contrary, it was an endorsement
of the principle at times forgotten that the general welfare is the only justification for the
exercise of governmental power and authority. Your mandate was a clear and urgent
command to establish for our people a government based upon honesty and morality; a
government sensitive to your needs, dedicated to your best interests, and inspired by our
highest ideals of man's liberty. We have a glorious past. Now, we must build a future worthy
of that past.

speech according to their age, gender, educational attainment, cultural background,
needs, and inclination.

from beginning to end. Choose your organizational method that suits your speech

All ears to Malala Yousafzai’s speech to the UN Youth Takeover that got the world's
attention. Is an example of a strong introduction that captures the world’s
attention

There are hundreds of Human rights activists and social workers who are not only
speaking for human rights, but who are struggling to achieve their goals of education, peace
and equality. Thousands of people have been killed by the terrorists and millions have been
injured. I am just one of them.
So here I stand... one girl among many.
I speak – not for myself, but for all girls and boys.
I raise up my voice – not so that I can shout, but so that those without a voice can be heard.
Those who have fought for their rights:
Their right to live in peace.
Their right to be treated with dignity.
Their right to equality of opportunity. Their right to be educated.

EGGCELLENT!

Eggs are one of the few foods that should be classified as “super foods. “They are
loaded with nutrients, some of which are rare in the modern diet. Incredibly nutritious eggs are
among the most nutritious foods on the planet. A single large boiled egg contains vitamin A,
6% of the folate, 5% of the Vitamin B5, 7% of the Vitamin B12, 9% of the Vitamin B2, 15% of
the Phosphorus: 9% of the Selenium: 22% of the Eggs also contain decent amounts of vitamin
D, vitamin E, vitamin K, vitamin B6, calcium and zinc. This comes with 77 calories, 6 grams of
protein, and 5 grams of healthy fats. Eggs also contain various trace of nutrients that are
important for health. In fact, eggs are pretty much the perfect food.
There are a lot of reasons why people enjoy eating breakfast eggs. They're
inexpensive. They're flexible, and they're filled with protein that's good for you, which means
they're great for a strong start to your day. Poaching an egg is one way to cook it, but there
are many ways to enjoy these lowly eggs.
They contain a little bit of almost every nutrient you need. If you can get your hands on
pastured or omega-3 enriched eggs, these are even better. They contain higher amounts of
omega-3 fat and are much higher in vitamin A and E. Because of these reasons, eggs can be

B. Give the main Idea of the paragraph:

B. Choose supporting Ideas to back up the main idea:

Nutrition involves analysis of food intake, absorption, assimilation, metabolism and

excretion. It is nutrition that supplies energy to our body. To stay in the prime of health, our
body requires the right balance of different nutrients. This can be achieved by the intake
of a proper balanced diet. The food that we eat everyday should have the right mix of
following nutrients - proteins, fiber, carbohydrates, fat, vitamins and minerals. Eggs, meat,
lentils etc. have an abundance of proteins. Green vegetables are an excellent source for
fiber. A balanced diet also keeps the number of calories in check.
It is said that women require up to 1500-2000 calories a day whereas men need 2000-
2500 calories every day. But sadly, our unhealthy eating habits lead us to consume
excessive calories, and the food that we generally eat has a disproportionate ratio of
nutrients.
Having a balanced diet with the right mix of different nutrients is essential for good
health. A food in which nutrients are preserved from oxidation, heating and leaching is
considered to be a healthy diet. Malnutrition is the intake of food with too little or too much
nutrients leading to diseases and other health problems.

We are done with defining and knowing the importance of

speech writing and how significant it is to write a clear and meaningful
text. The tool that used for speech writing is to have an outline so that

the importance of knowing your audience that entails looking into the
profile of your target viewers it is important to identify demography
such as age range, male-female ratio, educational background and
affiliations or degree program taken, nationality, economic status,
academic designations and three basic parts of speech writing which
includes introduction, body and conclusion.

Kapampangan Cuisine History
by willgarcia March 20, 2018

According to Aching Lilian Borromeo, guardian of Pampango Cuisine, after parboiling

it is to stir heavily to allow the meat to render its lard, and when mixed with marinade
yields a fuller and bolder flavor. The simplest explanation is really simple. The tagalog
term sangkutsa simply means “pre-cooking”. Half- cooking is also acceptable is done
by adding one to several flavorings to the main ingredients. It can be water only, or
water plus salt, fish sauce, onions, garlic and soy sauce. The last step is boiling the
mix until half done. The boiling time varies depending on commodity.
