TOPIC 2: HOMETOWN
1. Can you describe your town or village to me?
Yes, my hometown is in Soc Trang, which is located in the southern part of Viet Nam.
My hometown is a small city with a beautiful natural landscape, peace and quiet
environment. I love living there a lot because there are lots of trees and the air is fresh.
My hometown is the place of origin of The best rice in the world, ST 25.
2. What do you like about your hometown?
I really like the hospitality of the people in my village where we are living close
together and willing to give others a hand when needed.
3. What jobs do people do in your town?
In my town, people usually do agriculture and fishing. Also, with the latest
modernization, numerous office jobs have appeared in my town.
4. Would you prefer to live somewhere else?
Yes, I would. Although it’s really peaceful and quiet in the countryside. it’t hard to
find a job here. Moreover, we don’t have as many entertainment facilities as those in
the city, so I would say that I prefer living in the city when I’m young and returns to
my hometown when I get retired
TOPIC 3: WEEKEND
1. What will you do next weekend?
I'm planning to go back to my hometown next weekend. I plan to take my parents to
Vung Tau beach, where we will play some volleyball and take a dip in the ocean. I'm
also looking forward to trying out some new restaurants in Long Hai as well. It's been
a long time since I've had a chance to relax and enjoy precious time with my family,
so I'm really looking forward to it.
2. Did you do anything special last weekend?
No, I didn't do anything special. On Saturday, I cleaned my room from top to bottom.
In the evening, I just slept because I was tired. On Sunday, I got up later than usual
and went shopping. Afterward, I went out with my friends.
3. What do you usually do on weekends?
On weekends, I usually get up later than usual. Then, I cook some of my favorite
foods. Sometimes, I go to the park and play badminton with my friends. I often go to
bed early at night to refresh my mind and prepare for the next day. I find this routine
to be relaxing and fulfilling, and it sets me up for a productive week ahead.
TOPIC 4: CINEMA
1. Did you go to the cinema/movies a lot when you were a child?
Foretime, my family weren’t really well-off, so I can only watch movies on TV rather
than going to the movie theater as my friends.
2. Do you still like the same films/movies that you liked when you were a
child?
Yes, I still love watching them so much. I won’t be embarrassed to say that from time
to time I still watch Disney Movies like Aladin, Maleficent, Lion King, and more.
Whenever I watch those movies again, I feel like a child and more excited.
3. Do you prefer to go to the cinema/movies with friends or on your own?
I’d rather watch films with my friends because we always have a good time together,
we can communicate during the movie and also share opinions as it goes on.
Moreover, afterwards we can discuss about the meaning of this movie or go to eat
somethings when we hungry
TOPIC 5: WEATHER
1. What’s the weather like in your country each season?
Well, I’m currently live in Vietnam, where is one of the tropical country in the world.
About the weather, it's mostly hot and humid year-round. In summer months, the
ambient temperatures can be reached to 40 degree, and by contrast, temperatures can
really dip in winter.
2. What type of weather do you like best?
I’m a big fan of autumn. In summer, It’s usually hot and stuffy, which makes me feel
uncomfortable. Winter is too cool and it rains lot of in spring. So autumn is my
favorite weather.
3. Does the weather ever affect what you do?
Absolutely. I mean, when the weather is unfavourable like when it’s too sunny, I tend
to procrastinate my plan until late afternoon. 5 or 6 pm, because that’s when the
temperature lowers a little bit. On the other hand, when it rains heavily for too long,
the roads get slippery, so it’s quite dangerous to drive. Besides, you will be soaked if
you do decide to go out.
4. Does it rain a lot in your hometown?
Well, it depends on the season. In winter and spring, it rains quite a bit and combined
with dry weather. In contrast, in the summer and autumn, it often rains heavily,
causing countless inconveniences for participants traffic.
5. Does rain ever affect transportation in your hometown?
Yeah, of course. Traffic is often held up when it rains. All the roads are clogged, and
people find it difficult to escape from traffic jam. I would stay at home and watch TV
rather than going out and being caught up in traffic.
TOPIC 5: PLANE
1. Have you ever travelled by plane?
I very rarely go travel by plane. To me more exact, the last trip to Ha Noi is the first
time I have a chance to travel by plane.
2. Is airline service good in Vietnam?
In the airport, you are provided with luggage trolleys, guided queue. If you feel
hungry, you will be served a various foods and drinks during the flight. I feel very
satisfied about airline service in Vietnam.
3. What are some benefits of travelling by plane ?
Well, travelling by plane bring passenger a lot of advantages. First of all, it is the
fastest means of tranport, so it helps them to save too much time. In addition, people
have a lot of options for entertainment such as enjoying the beautiful view through the
window or relaxing comfortably while on the plane
TOPIC 6: ENGLISH
1. Is English important?
English is the main language for studying any subject all over the world. It is
important for students as it opens their minds, develops emotional skills, improve the
quality of life by providing more job opportunities.
2. Do you have any difficulties in learning English?
I have some difficulties about remembering new words. You know, today I learn
several new words but a week later I might forget most of them.
3. What do you do to improve your English ?
I think joining in an English club is the easiest way to improve my English skill. I can
practice speaking skill, talk to other peoples, it make me feel more confident in
communicate English. Besides, I often reading English book or watch film in English
subtitle to improve my Reading and Listening English skill.
I’m afraid not. Although I know reading is beneficial, right now I’m too lazy and busy
to read. Maybe in the future, if I have more time, I’ll try to read more often.
5. What kinds of books do you often read
Well, I read various things. Sometimes, I read my coursebooks at university to get
more information. From time to time, I read short stories to relax.
6. Do you read for pleasure or work purposes?
I read books for both purposes. Sometimes, I have to read some documents at work
but when I have spare time, I read comic books or online news, too.
7. Do you think it’s important for children to read?
Definitely yes. Reading is necessary thing for everyone, especially for children
because reading broadens children’s knowledge, improves imagination and creativity
so it helps them to find out more about the world around them.
TOPIC 17: TV
1. Do you like watching TV?
I’m not very keen on watching TV because now I have my smart phone. I prefer
watching short videos on Youtube to watching long programs on TV. With my mobile
phone, I can watch anything I like whenever I want without having to sit in front of a
TV.
2. How much time do you spend watching TV? + 3. When do you usually
watch TV?
I’m busy all day long, so I only watch TV in the evening. I’m not sure about how
many hours a day I watch TV, but maybe it’s about 6 to 7 hours per week.
3. What kind of TV program do you like watching?
As i said, I’m not very keen on watching TV. However, one program that I’m quite
into is news. I think it’s important to understand the events in my country and all over
the world, so I watch news to update information.
4. What types of TV program are popular in your country?
People have different interests, but I guess the most popular program is news. I think
most people know it’s important to understand the events in the country and all over
the world, so they watch news to update information. Moreover, this program is
shownduring meal time, so family often gathers together to watch news.
5. Why do children like watching advertisements?
Adults may dislike advertisements, but children often love them because
advertisements usually have coloful images and catchy songs. My daughter even
watches advertisements to eat faster.
