Foreign Studies
In The First Study Title “Adopting Effective Computer Maintenance and Troubleshooting Cultures for
Sustainable Development of IT-Driven Sectors of the Third World Countries” Conducted by Bukie Paul Tawo,
Bassey Ele and Ofem AO in University Of Calabar In Nigeria said
A computer is an electronic device with mechanical components requiring adequate care and maintenance
due to the system's fragile nature. Today, computers have become an integral part of global
communications. Computers are built to be reliable and serve as professional machines; however, they are
frequently disposed to develop problems such as malfunction and system failure in the process. The
personal computer (PC) often displays error messages, hang up, and in the worse conditions, stop working
completely. This article explicitly examines effective measures for PC maintenance, configuration, updating
and troubleshooting to protect against system malfunction, recognizing that computer application program
is the steering wheel of growth and development in most segments of our society. The paper highlights
most reliable techniques to troubleshoot, fix bugs, and repair, and further recommends computer
maintenance, effective utilization and development, especially in developing countries
Another Study Title “Self Learning Computer Troubleshooting Expert System” Conducted by Amanuel Ayde
Ergado at Jimma University, on Nigeria said
In computer domain the professionals were limited in number but the numbers of institutions looking for
computer professionals were high. Developing self learning expert system which is providing
troubleshooting information about problems occurred in the computer system for the Information and
Communication Technology technicians and computer users to solve problems effectively and efficiently to
utilize computer and computer related resources. Domain knowledge was acquired using semistructured
interview technique, observation and document analysis. Domain experts were purposively selected for the
interview question. The conceptual model of the expert system was designed by using a decision tree
structure which is easy to understand and interpret the causes involved in computer troubleshooting.
The Third Study Was Conducted By Ojara Stevenstone and Ogwal Andrew Jacob which is a case study, titled
Computer Troubleshooting System said
Automation of Computer troubleshooting system is meant to store, update and help the users and
administrators in finding problems and solutions associated with computers in the Rick Information And
Communication Technology Laboratory. This will also cater for the newly detected problems and symptoms
in the computers at the institution. It's in due course because of the problems incurred due to poor
computer troubleshooting techniques in the institution such as software and hardware failures like hard disk
crushing, inadequate power supply, incompatibles devices, and data loss. The system will therefore generate
reports for the problems, symptoms and solutions for both the users and administrators according to the
search. The system will also generate a report for the authorized users that will only be viewed by the
system administrator.
The Fourth Study Was Conducted By Anne Todd Ottenbreit in Western Michigan University Said
If the educational technology curriculum involved computer troubleshooting, students could possibly
increase their problem solving abilities. Because computer troubleshooting follows similar procedures to
problem solving, there is possibility of an educational transfer and could be easily included into the
educational technology curriculum. The purpose of the research study was to discover if the computer
troubleshooting curriculum designed by the researcher affected the elementary students' problem solving
abilities. Technology education at the elementary level includes keyboarding and 'practice and drill'
software. The proposed curriculum would be a new method to meet national technology and math
standards of education. Positive outcomes of the research will validate its use in a technology education
program.
The Fifth Study Conducted by Faten El Kahlout and Samy S. Abu-Naser titled Developing an Expert System
to Computer Troubleshooting said
There is no doubt that Computer troubleshooting is important for organizations and companies and for
personal use level. Sound cards troubles is one of the most annoying problems in computers. It causes
damage and troubles in computers to persons, organizations and firms. Correctly, expert systems can greatly
help to avoid damage to these computers. designed to diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to sound
cards in computer systems. The expert system is developed using a combination of rule-based and machine
learning approaches, which allows for accurate and efficient diagnosis of a wide range of sound card
problems. Objectives: An expert system has been established based on CLIPS to diagnose Computer
Problems
LOCAL STUDIES
A Study Conducted By Kevin Caratiquit in 2022 titled “YouTube Videos as Supplementary Materials to
Enhance Computer Troubleshooting and Repair Techniques for Senior High School Students in the
Philippines”
His study was to aimed to improve learners' academic performance in Computer Troubleshooting and
Repair Techniques at Lal-lo National High School by using YouTube videos with teacher-made learning
activity sheets as supplementary materials. The study employed a quasi-experimental design, particularly a
one-group pretest and posttest design, in which the intervention was administered to the same
participants. The result proved that the learners gained a higher mean on their posttest result than their
pretest, indicating a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores. Moreover, the
intervention greatly affected the students' academic performance, particularly on the competency in
Computer Troubleshooting and Repair Techniques. YouTube videos can help visual learners, and students
better understand a subject. These videos can catch students' imagination, especially when face-to-face
learning is discouraged owing to the epidemic. The intervention material may be adapted by ICT, TLE
teachers, and other disciplines.
The second Study Conducted By Carlmalone Mabiog said
Troubleshooting is the ability of individuals to adopt a systematic approach towards identifying and then solving the
problem or issue. In simple words, troubleshooting are the problem solving abilities of a person. It measures the level
of importance of the students towards troubleshooting. also implies that troubleshooting challenge the student to be
a competitive student and a golden ticket to pass the NCII exam.
Third Study Was Conducted By Rufino, Eunice Joy S. Palmejar, Keith J. Sim, Kenneth Warren said
This study is to develop a Personal Computer Troubleshooting Expert System (PCTX). The system was created using
the Visual Basic 6 application software. The database of the system was created using Microsoft Access 2003 and can
be backed-up in different storage devices such as the hard disk of the computer and compact disk. This system should
be implemented to present various troubleshooting procedures for personal computer desktop unit. This
troubleshooting procedure includes the different symptoms, together with the identification of the problem and its
corresponding solutions.
The Fourth Study Conducted By Maricar O. Torebellas and Carlmalone S. Mabiog said
