DATE/TIME MARCH 2024 QUARTER THIRD QUARTER

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learners are able to demonstrates understanding of the
concepts of parallel and perpendicular lines, angles, triangles,
and quadrilaterals.
B. Performance Standards The learners is able to construct and describe parallel and
perpendicular lines, angles, triangles, and quadrilaterals in
designs, drawings and models.
C. Learning Competencies At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:
1. finds the perimeter of rectangle ;
2. measure the perimeter of rectangle;
3. value the importance of knowing the perimeter
II. CONTENT Perimeter of Rectangle

c. Setting of Standards The teacher will discuss the classroom agreement
d. Checking of attendance The teacher will check the attendance in artistic way.
The pupils will pick what they like to copy as the teacher called
out their names.
Ohayo!
Hola!!
Sawadeekrap!
Ni hao!
e. Review The teacher will ask what was the topic last meeting.
Elapsed Time. It is the time spent.
A. Drill Before we discuss our lesson for today, I prepared an activity. I
have here cake on the board having equations written on each
layer. Beside the cake are balloons and inside the balloons are
the answers to these equations. Using toothpick, you are going
to pop the balloons then match the answers to these equations.

Motivation:

Ezekiel has a farm of a rectangular shape. Its length is 10 m

and its width is 6 m. He wants to build a fence around the
whole farm. He will use a wood that goes around the whole
farm. How long should the woods be?

What happen to the farm if there is no perimeter?

Why?
Reason Happy (correct) or Sad
(wrong)

Presentation

The teacher will present a problem.

Have you seen a forest?

What are the things do we usually see in a forest?

I have here Mr. Tree from the famous national park. Mr. Tree
has a problem and he doesn’t know how to solve his problem.
Do you want to help him?

”The forest of a famous National Park which is a rectangular in

shape has one side measuring 9 km and the other side
measuring 5 km. How many km of fencing are needed to
preserve the hundreds of endangered species of wild flower and
animals?”
The teacher will let the pupils read the problem and analyze it.
The teacher will ask the following questions:
What is the shape of the famous National Park?
Will you draw the shape of the famous National Park on the
board
How many sides does a rectangle have?
How many pairs of parallel sides are there in a rectangle?
Who wants to come here in front and put marks on the longer
pair of parallel sides?
How many lengths does a rectangle have?

To find the perimeter of rectangle, add the measures of its sides

or P = L1 + L2 + W1 + W2.

P = L1 + L2 + W1 + W2
= 9 km + 9 km+ 5 km + 5 km
= 18 km + 10 km
= 28 km

Therefore, the perimeter of the National Park is 28 km.

B. Activity Divide the class into 3 groups.

Group 1: Measure the perimeter of the following object using

your ruler and list down your answers in the table below.
Items Measurement Total
(cm/inch)
Notebook
Eraser
Chair

Group 2: Find the perimeter of te rectangular park.

5 km

2 km 2 km

5 km
Group 3: Draw a farm with perimeter, measures and show your
findings.
C. Analysis The pupils will discuss their output as a group.

The teacher will ask the additional following questions

1. What is perimeter?
2. How do you find the perimeter of the rectangle?
3. What is the reason why we need to use peerimeter especially
in school, at home or other stablishments?
D. Abstraction The teacher will discuss the topic.

What is perimeter?

Perimeter is the total distance of all sides of a closed plane

figure.

Perimeter= sum of the legth of all sides of a closed plane figure.

Perimeter= length + length + width + width

Or
Perimeter= 2length + 2width

Example:

4 cm
L
3 cm W 3 cm

4 cm
P= l + l + w + w
= 4 cm + 4 cm + 3 cm + 3 cm
= 8 cm + 6 cm
P = 14 cm
Or

P=2l + 2w
= 2 ( 4 cm) + 2 ( 3 cm)
= 8 cm + 6 cm
=14 cm
E. Application The teacher will give differentiated activities.
The teacher will show situation that lead to the activity.

Group 1: Find the perimeter of the following kitchen tools using

your ruler in centimeter. Report the result in the class after.

Group 2: Let the pupils measure the objects they can find inside
the classroom and record it using the table.
Objects Measurement Total

5.

Group 3: Find the perimeter of the following tools using your

ruler in inches. Report the result in the class after.
Objects Measurement Total
1. Table
2. Chair
3. Arm rest
4.Book
5. Notebook

Evaluation Directions: Find the perimeter of the following rectangles.
