Introduction
The policy of Fastjet is to manufacture non-contact printing/coding systems and ink
supplies that meet high standards of performance and reliability. We enforce strict
quality control techniques to eliminate the potential for defects and hazards in our
products.
The intended use of the Fastjet F500 series printer is to print information directly
onto a product. Use of this equipment in any other fashion may lead to serious
personal injury.
The safety guidelines provided in this chapter are intended to educate the
technicians on all safety issues, so that the printer is serviced and operated in a safe
manner.
Only fastjet - trained personnel must carry out installation and maintenance work.
Any such work undertaken by unauthorized personnel may damage the printer
and will invalidate the warranty.
To avoid damage to the printer components, use only soft brushes and lint free
cloths for cleaning. Do not use high pressure air, cotton waste, or abrasive
materials.
The printhead must be completely dry before attempting to start the printer,
otherwise the printhead may get damaged.
To prevent nozzle clogs, always wear rubber gloves whenever the nozzle tubing
manifold is to be disconnected from the printhead valve.

1.2.5 Valve 12
V12 - Return Valve. The Return valve mounted on the heater module block is
normally closed, only opening during purging, flushing of the nozzle and start up and
shutdown.
The Return valve when energized removes air from the feed and return pipework and
the nozzle when being purged. A vacuum is also applied through the return valve to
the nozzle during a nozzle flush
1.2.6 Valve 11
V11 - Jet Valve. V11 when energized allows the flow of ink to the nozzle during
printing.
Both V11 and V12 drive by 24V and keep at 12V(The holding voltage of different
motherboard versions is slightly different, such as DC7V-DC8V, which does not affect
the use). They’re detachable and they can test in INK SYSTEM - DEBUG menu.

1.3.10 Ink System Operation
Function
• Ensure that the ink is kept at a viscosity value corresponding to the ink
temperature and the type of ink in use.
Operation
The pump draws ink from the mixer tank and circulates it round a system
divided into several paths. After circulation the unused ink is returned to the
mixer tank.
Circulation ensures that the ink remains thoroughly mixed and any addition of
ink or solvent will be rapidly mixed in.
• The VMS.
• The venturi and gutter pump, which creates a vacuum to the nozzle or the
gutter to perform the following operations:
d. The returned ink or solvent is fed back to the mixer tank via a baffle to
reduce frothing.
1. Solenoid valve V3 opens directing ink into the VMS chamber(Item 3 on page 19
and 20), which is an integral part of the Mixer Tank.
2. Ink flows into the VMS chamber via V3 and restrictor until the high level sensor
is detected. At this point V3 closes, stopping the flow of ink into the chamber.
3. The ink flows out of the chamber through a large restrictor into the mixer tank
until the low level sensor is undetected. The Mainboard measures the time that
this takes. V3 energizes and the chamber starts to fill again.
4. The time taken for the ink to run out of the chamber is dependent on its
viscosity; the thicker the ink, the longer it will take to drain. The viscosity of the
ink is affected by makeup loss during normal machine operation as well as by its
temperature, which is monitored by a sensor beside the pressure transducer.
5. The Mainboard compares the time taken for the ink to drain against a value
calculated by the software. The software takes into account the type of ink (i.e.
B600 selected by default) and its temperature.
6. If the ink is too thick (i.e. the time to drain is longer than the calculated value)
solenoid valve V1 opens. The pump draws solvent from the top up reservoir,
adding it in small doses to the mixer tank every 2nd VMS cycle until the viscosity
is correct .
7. The viscosity monitoring sequence is repeated each time that the low level
sensor in the VMS chamber is undetected.
Note: Ink is only added to the mixer tank when the tank level is below the OK
level sensor.

• The default program for the F540/F560 when the "START/STOP" button is
pressed is “Clean Start".
• This procedure is primarily intended for situations where the machine may be
stopped and restarted several times in quick succession. Under these
conditions, the use of solvent may become excessive and cause dilution of
the ink.
Note: This sequence is used to manually stop the jet for a short period, or to
automatically stop the jet during charge error and gutter error.
2. Nozzle flush will automatically time out after 2 minutes but can be stopped
at any time before that by pressing F1 Stop Flush.
3. A nozzle flush can be started with the jet running or stopped. If the jet is
running, selecting Flush Nozzle will first of all de-energize feed valve V6 to
stop the flow of ink to the nozzle.
a. The printer operates normally and the OK level in the mixer tank shows
"None" for at least 10 seconds.
2. The flow of ink from the cartridge into the Measuring Cup:

3. The flow of ink from the Measuring Cup into the Mixer tank:

V5 and V9 will de-energized and at this point, about 10cc ink has been
added to the mixer tank.

* The ink core produced after 12th, July 2019 uses a 4-pin plug
A flange of the diaphragm (the diaphragm is located in a cavity in one the two
housings) acts as a sealing gasket when the two housings are bolted together. The
housing containing the diaphragm cavity also has an ink connection which allows
either ink under pressure or vacuum to move the diaphragm backwards and
forwards.
• The In Port only allows flow into the pump and is connected to a pipe, which
draws flushing solvent from the solvent level. The solvent level can be check in
the diagnosis screen
• The Out Port only allows flow out of the pump and is connected to a pipe that
feeds the flush solvent to the manifold in the printhead.
When vacuum (generated by the suction of the gear pump) is applied to the
diaphragm, flush solvent is drawn from the solvent level and into the pump cavity to
prime the pump.
During “clean stop” cycle, pressure is applied to the diaphragm through the switching
of V7. The In Port seals close, forcing flushing solvent through the Out Port to the
printhead and through V11.
Out Port
In Port
The valves are single-acting, operated by an electrical solenoid with spring return.
The flow is from the common port [3] to the normally open port [1] when the valve is
not energized (off). When energized (on) the flow is from the common port to the
normally closed port [2].
Valves V11 and V12 are miniature shut-off valves and are mounted on the heater
block within the printhead.

3. The F530/540 series does not support high speed mode. 6, 13, 20, 27 dots for
printing 6x5 fonts and for F560 series only.
6. For example, 16 dots printing (2 lines printing, 7x5 font), if the dot interval required
to be printed is 0.2mm (the width of each characters is about 1.2mm include the
gap between each characters) , the speed ratio is 0.2 / 0.417 = 0.48, so the normal
speed is 60 x 0.48 = 28.8m/min, the speed under high speed mode is 90 x 0.48 =
43.2 m/min
Note: The sample is F560-60Si standard machine printout, the dot interval is about 0.417mm, after
distribution and printing may be slightly different from the actual printing, please refer to the actual result.
