During Cable Laying:

• Cable Drum of required length and size according to cable schedule shall be shifted
to the location with the help of Farana
• Cable Drum shall be lifted to the required height to get clearance from the ground
level while rolling with the help of jocks
• Packing of drum shall be remove and care shall be taken to avoid the cable damage
• Cable drum shall be tested for its IR values and continuity with the help of megger
• Drum shall be rolled in the direction which is mentioned on the drum
• Cable should not be dragged on rough surface and rocky area
• During cutting of the length required (with reference to cable schedule) one-meter
extra length shall be kept.
Cable must be covered with the end cap from both the ends & should kept at
certain height.
• After completion of the laying and cutting, Cable identification tags shall be
provided at both the ends and at turnings
• Clamping at required intervals shall be provided.

After Completion of Cable Laying:

• Cable trenches shall be closed with slab plates in case of RCC Cable trenches and
shall be back filled with sand cushion followed by brick layer and removed soil in
case of underground cable trenches
• Danger tape shall be provided at required depth
• Cable trench route markers shall be provided along the route

d. Insulation tapes / Heat shrink sleeves
e. Hot air Blowers
f. Strippers and cutters etc.

Glanding
• Required quantum and diameter of holes shall be made on the Gland plate of each
panels
• Gland shall be fixed to the cable with the help of cable armoring and gland plate of the
panels
• Core end Insulation of required length shall be removed which can fit to lug length

• Cable laying check lists
• IR value test formats of the cable
• HV test formats
• Cable laying check lists
• Glanding and termination check lists

Notes:
• All the Equipment’s must be calibrated by NABL approved lab, calibration certificate must
be submitted before starting of work
• Cable bending radius should be minimum 15D (IS:1255 to be refer for detailing)

• Cable should be kept straight between termination point and gland below the gland as well
to eliminate chances of stress on termination. Sleeves shrinking should be done carefully,
it should not be burnt.
• Sleeves should be used as per standard color coding i.e., Red & Black for DC cable and
Red, Yellow & Blue for AC.
• Armor earthing should be done at one end of cable.
