This is my 3rd week in the Tourism Product Design and Delivery class taught by Roopa

Sreedhar. Previously, we were put into groups and worked together as a team meant to
work on existing group report assignments and presentations. My group friends (Amitoj,
Hieui, Dat) and I will present next Tuesday and submit our group report. After that, we will
do the final test the next day. During my time in this class, there are many new pieces of
knowledge that I know.

In the first week, I studied defining and analysing tourism products, knowing more about
destination management, whether as a service system or a value system, relevance of
tourism, tourism destinations, and marketing management. Compared to other types of
goods and services, tourism products have different characteristics, and to understand the
shape and form of tourism products, we must understand what tourism products are. From
my learning about tourism products, I can catch an integrated product arrangement, which
consists of tourist objects and attractions, transportation, accommodation, and
entertainment. Each element of tourism product is prepared by each company and offered
separately to the public consumers (tourists). Elements of tourism products that form an
integrated tourism package which is described based on the needs of tourists:
1. Tourist Attractions and Attractions
2. Travel Agent & Tour Operator Services
3. Transportation Company Services
4. Accommodation, Restaurant, Recreation and Entertainment Services
5. Souvenir Service
6. Supporting Company Services.
Understanding tourism products in depth can also be done by first understanding the
characteristics of tourism products as, it cannot be moved, does not require intermediaries
to achieve satisfaction,it cannot be hoarded or stored, strongly influenced by non-economic
factors, it cannot be tried or tasted, highly dependent on human factors, has a high level of
risk in terms of investment, does not have an objective standard or measure in assessing the
level of product quality.
I also understand that tourism products are a series of various interrelated services,
namely services produced from multiple companies (economic aspect), community services
(social aspect), and natural services. Tourism products as one of the objects of offering in
tourism marketing. The attractiveness of tourist destinations, including the image imagined
by tourists, facilities owned by tourist destinations, including accommodation, food
processing businesses, parking, transportation, recreation and others.

Ease of reaching the tourist destination and from what I learned, According to
Dickman (1997), the components of tourism include attractions, accessibility,
accommodation, amenities and activities. In the third session, not only understanding
tourist products, but Roopa also explained to us about destination management, the
relevance of tourists, and other things. What I caught at that time Destination Management
Organization (DMO) is a tourism destination governance structure that includes planning,
coordinating, implementing, and controlling destination organisations innovatively and
systemically through the use of networks, information and technology, which are guided in
an integrated manner with community participation, associations, industry, academia and
the government to improve the quality of management, volume of tourist visits, length of
stay and amount of tourist spending as well as benefits for the community in tourism
destinations.
In the second week, one of the materials I learned was suppliers and intermediaries in the
mix. I studied that material in session 6. A fundamental role of a company's distribution
function is to ensure that the right product is available at the right time. This implies an
organisation of resources into marketing channels through which products move to
consumers. A marketing channel is the route taken when moving a product or service from
its initial supply source to its final customer. It is essential to pay attention to both the
exchange route and the physical movement route of the product – the two ways can be
completely different. Some companies use multiple marketing channels to reach their
customers, often involving one or more intermediaries.

The role of intermediaries is to enable the company to serve the broadest possible
market at a lower cost. Some intermediaries exist who stockpile and stock up and thus share
the financial risk with the producer (or supplier). The use of intermediaries’ benefits
producers. Of course, there are no small costs to be incurred, but the most important thing
is that there is a loss of control when using a distribution channel strategy using
intermediaries. Sometimes there is a significant conflict between the goals of the supplier
and the goals of its distributors, leading to conflict and suspicion in their relationship.
However, suppliers must evaluate the costs and benefits of each available marketing
channel that can be used and decide which combination is most appropriate for the type of
business and market they serve. In the third week, I learned about what a product is,
tangible and intangible products, product design, product level. Understanding
development, in general, is anything that can be produced from the production process in
the form of goods or services that can later be traded in the market. there is also a product
definition, according to Kotler. (found in the screenshot in the 6th session material
explained by my lecturer, Roopa)
Honestly, I studied a lot more material in session 8, and I don't know why I feel like learning
in that session. But overall, I like all the material that my lecturer brings. From the way she
explains the learning materials to her students, I think it's good. Other things I learned at
that time, explanations about brands, labelling, warranties, guarantees, alternative
perspectives on branding, and many others.
And finally, in the fourth week, my group and I will make a presentation and the final
test the next day. Ultimately, I want to say that what I learned in this unit will be very useful
for me in the future by knowing more about products, tourists, design, and others. I also
want to thank Roopa for teaching me a lot in this unit.
