Home Service Professional with information on troubleshooting controls on freestanding gas and electric
ranges. For specific information on the model being serviced, refer to the information supplied with the
range. Always use the Tech Sheet supplied with the product when servicing the range.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES


The goal of this Job Aid is to provide information that will enable the In-Home Service Professional to
properly diagnose malfunctions of gas and electric freestanding ranges.
The objectives of this Job Aid are to:
• Understand and follow proper safety precautions.
• Successfully troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions.
• Successfully perform necessary repairs.
• Successfully return the range to its proper operational status.

4. Unplug range or disconnect power.
• Verify voltage between CON 2-4 and
CON 1-1 by completing the following
steps:
1. Unplug range or disconnect power.
2. Connect voltage measurement
equipment to CON 2-4 and CON 1-1.
3. Plug in range or reconnect power
and confirm voltage reading.
• If voltage checks are good, unplug

power and confirm voltage
reading.
4. Unplug range or disconnect
power.
• Check wiring from control
board to terminal block.
• Check wiring from terminal
block to power supply.

When in the Diagnostic mode, instructions will be provided by the control to help you through
each of the programs. Press Cancel to exit the test at any time.

When checking for Fault Codes and "NO FAULTS" is displayed. Do Not replace the Control.
The "AUTO TEST" program will automatically test all the oven circuits. This test is very easy to
use and when the test is complete, test results will be provided. Whenever servicing the oven,
this is the test to run.
*Press“DELAY START”
*Press "START TIME" to clear all fault codes.

No Faults - Control is good do not replace


No Display - Control blank • Verify voltage at power supply.
• Verify voltage between control
board pins P6-1 and P6-3 by
completing the following steps:
1. Unplug range or disconnect power.
2. Connect voltage measurement
equipment between control board
pins P6-1 and P6-3.
3. Plug in range or reconnect power
and confirm voltage reading.
4. Unplug range or disconnect power.
• If voltage check is good, replace
control board.

• While in Diagnostic Mode - Start Clean
cycle, to verify that door does latch.
• Unplug range or disconnect power
• If door did not latch - check for
contunity:
Upper Oven - P7-4 to P7-2
Lower Oven - P7-4 to P7-3
(Latch Switches)
• If no contunity - check for
500-3000Ω resistance at P5-6 to
P6-3 or P5-5 to P6-3 (Latch Motors)
• If resistance check fails - replace
Latch motor.
• If resistance check is good, check door
(slot) and latching rod alignment. If door
alignment is good - Replace Door Latch
Switch

All F6 E* (Control Communication) • Run Diagnostic Mode and verify fault
