Summary Report of the Faculty Development Program

on

Trends & Issues on VLSI and Communication Engineering

AICTE sponsored one-week online faculty development programme on “Trends & Issues
on VLSI and Communication Engineering” was designed to enhance the vision of faculty
members and research scholars by exposing them to recent developments that are going in
VLSI Design and Communication Engineering.

With this aim in mind, Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Guru
Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar organized one-week online
faculty development programme on “Trends & Issues on VLSI and Communication
Engineering” from 25th October, 2021 to 30th October, 2021. The FDP was designed to
provide a platform to the participants to learn about various challenges that are happening in
the field of VLSI design

So, there were 18 sessions in total, and a total of 140 participants joined in this FDP from
various states of India.

Day 1 programme begun with welcome address by chairperson ECE & University FDP
Coordinator Prof. Sandeep K. Arya Sir.

Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. B. R. Kamboj Sir was the chief guest of the program and
said that the students are to be job provider not to be job seeker.

Worthy Registrar sir in their inaugural speech focus in the various opportunities exist in the
field of the VLSI area.

Col. B. Venkat is his inaugural speech focuses in the NEP-2020 and students to be
entrepreneur.

Dean Madam Prof. Saroj elaborates about the increasing demand of the mobiles phones and
laptops due to the era of the VLSI design.

It was well organized training programme with lot of inputs provided, and the all the sessions
were very informative. There were many topics covered during the programme, and hope it
will ignite the passion for learning more and more about VLSI design.

So details of technical sessions are provided in this report

First session was taken by Dr. H.S. Jattana, principle scientist, semiconductor society,
Chandigarh who discussed the industrial revolution. Jattana sir focuses on the green
growth and sustainable development.

The second session was addressed by Dr R. S. Gupta and delivered a talk on VLSI design
issues and materials used for the VLSI design.

In the third session, Dr. Anurekha Sharma Professor, Kurukshetra University explained
about the MEMS and its applications.

On the 2nd Day, the technical session four, was addressed by Dr. Anil Vohra Professor,
Kurukshetra University Kurukshetra who discussed VLSI technology for present and
future.

The programme progressed with the lecture by Dr. Naresh Padha, Professor, Jammu
University, Jammu on the topic Materials Engineering for Electronic devices and its
applications.

Session six was taken by Dr. Balwinder Raj, Associate Professor, NITTTR Chandigarh
and talks on Nanoscale Devices for Low Power VLSI Design.

Day 3 started with the resource person Dr. Mridula Gupta, Professor, Delhi University
who talked about Advancements in semiconductor devices for VLSI technology in
Nanoscale regime.

The next session was delivered by Dr. Manoj Saxena, Professor Delhi University on the topic
Modelling and Simulation of Robust Ultrasensitive Tunnel Field Effect Transistor
Design for bio-sensing Applications.

Final session of day was taken over by Dr. R. N. Yadav Professor, NIT Bhopal who
beautifully explained the Performance of Digital Modulation Techniques over AWGN
Fading Channel.

On day 4, session 10 begun with Dr. Manoj Kumar, Professor, GGSIP New Delhi who
covered CMOS Oscillator Design and Importance of Low Power.

Next session was taken by Prof. Mukesh Kumar, Kurukshetra University who delivered a
lecture on Process technology trends in VLSI design.

Last session on the day was taken by Prof. Brahmjit Singh, Professor, NIT Kurukshetra
and who discussed about 5G Wireless Networks: Issues and Solutions
The fifth day of the FDP started with the address by Prof. A. K. Gupta, Director Retd.
IRDE Dehradun on Night Vision System for Military applications.

Second Session of the day were devoted to the Games for Health and Learning which was
taken by Professor Arun Khosla, NIT Jalandhar.

Last session of the day was taken by Dr. Amit Kumar Garg, Professor, DCRUST Murthal on
Optical Networks: The Road to 5G and Beyond

On the final Day of FDP, Dr. Manoj Duhan, Professor, DCRUST Murthal discussed on
5G Communications and challenges in that.

Second practical session of the day was taken by DR. Abhimanyu, Department of ECE on
Optical System Design with Optisim software.

Third Session was taken by Col B Venkat, Director, Faculty Development Cell, AICTE
who discussed and highlighted the importance of New Education Policy, 2020.

So, the house was declared open for all the queries during technical sessions and doubts that
were very well answered by experts with great enthusiasm and to the satisfactions of the
academicians.
