Ang Mga Kagilagilalas na Pakikipagsapalaran ni Juan de la Cruz by Jose
F. Lacaba
Filing, hindi naman deaths, ha.
Remembrances, oo. Yung medyo malapot
Dahil alam mo na, I’m quitting the place
After two and a half years.
After two and a half years,
Di man nagkatiyempong mag-ugat, ika nga,
Siyempre’y nagging attached, parang morning
glory’ng
Mahirap mapaknit sa alambreng trellis.
Nang wala nang malunok WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE
si Juan de la Cruz sabi ng PC
dala-dala'y gulok at sinisi
gula-gulanit na ang damit ang walanghiyang
wala pa rin laman ang bulsa kabataan
umakyat kung bakit sinulsulan
Sa Arayat ang isang tahimik na
ang namayat mamamayan
na si Juan de la Cruz na tulad ni Juan de la Cruz

“Bawal” by Hernan Melencio
may pinapaslang/ Sa di kalayuan// Bawal doon, bawal dito,/ Bawal
magreklamo./ Ang pwede lamang, ‘igan/ Ay pumatay ng nanlaban.”

When Times Go Bad by Cirilo F. Bautista
As far as shoes can go
down corridors without salt and pepper,
I think of trains quiet and solid like eternity,
I have a ticket to nowhere …

and concludes

In my knapsack an ossuary,
on my lips a constant prayer —
that’s all I have between the darkness
and the croaking voice of this republic.
