I have always wanted to see the Northern Lights. So, last year, I finally got to experience them for myself
1
and it was definitely worth the wait!
I flew to Tromsø, in Norway, with my family. It is a city in the Arctic Circle and understandably has some extreme
weather conditions! The temperature is bitterly cold in winter. I have never seen so much snow! We
2
rented a small cottage for a few days to explore the city. There was so much to do. We climbed mountains, went
skiing and even went on a whale watching trip. It was truly unforgettable to see such beautiful animals in their
natural habitat.
However, the real adventure began when we left Tromsø to start our expedition to see the Northern Lights. We
travelled on sledges which meant we moved very quickly even in the strong winds. It was very exciting. That night
we decided to stay at the Snow Hotel where we slept on beds made from ice.
3
The next day was the best day of the journey. We travelled a bit further North but soon set up a camp with the help
of our tour representative. They were incredible and I took lots of photographs of them. I felt so sad when
4
we had to leave but I know I'm very lucky to have enjoyed a once-in-a-lifetime experience like this!
