LESSON EXEMPLAR
Topic/Title: The Rectangular Coordinate System
Grade level: 8
Time allotment 60minutes
Learning Competencies/Objectives
Describe the Cartesian Coordinate System; x- and y-axis,
quadrant, and origin
Plot the given pair of points
Elicit (10 minutes) Araling Panlipunan/Arts
“Locate Me”
The class is divided into two group and will work together in
order to locate and name the different Barangays in Minalin
into the given blank map. Clues will be given in each Laptop/pictures
barangay. The first group who’s able to locate and name
more barangays correctly will be declared as winner
Follow up questions:
1. How did you find the activity?
2. What makes you find the correct location and name of the
barangay?
3. What do you think will be our topic for today based on the
game we did?
Engage (15minutes) Music/Language
Let the student watch the short video about rectangular Video/ TV

MY ANNOTATION
Knowledge:
“Ask the students to write one word that they remember on the video on a piece of paper and post it
on the board” – in this part of the lesson, the teacher ask the students to recall information from the
given video.
Understand:
“Let the students generalize the discussion by describing the word that they give at the beginning of
the discussion.” - in this part of the lesson, the teacher ask the students to summarize the information
that they learn in the lesson
Apply:
“Let the students plot the given points and connect the dots in order to reveal the hidden figure.” – to
implement what was learned in the lesson, students are asked to plot the given ordered pairs to reveal
the hidden picture in the activity
Analyze:
“Point (2,3) is different from point point (3,2), just like us, we have different points of view. What may
true to others might not true for you. All we need is to respect each other’s opinion.” - in this part of
the lesson, the teacher ask the students to explain how does the lesson can be compare in real-life
situation.
Evaluate:
“The students will be divided into two groups wherein they will plot the point assigned to them in the
human cartesian plane. The first to plot the point will be the winner.” – students will be test on how
well they understand the lesson
Create:
“ Students are asked to make their own “Coordinate Picture” – in this part of the lesson, students are
instructed to make their own Coordinate picture using plotted points on a cartesian plane.
