1 Load Calculation
Dead Load ₌ 0 kN
Live Load/ Wheel Load ₌ 19.5 Tonne
195 kN
Ls ₌ 35.71 m
Which is less than maximum specified spacing of 140m
Acceptable
Lc =

Where
2
Sc= Allowable tensile stress in CC during curing 0.8 Kg/ cm
f = Coefficient of friction 1.5
3
W= Unit weight of Cement concrete 2400 Kg/ cm
Lc ₌ 4.44 m
Which is less than the maximum specified spacing 4.5m
Acceptable
Therefore provide contraction joint at every 4.45 m and expansion joint at every 8th such joints i.e. 8 x 4.45
m= 35.6m
As per Vizhinjam International Multipurpose Seaport " Manual of specifications and standards"
7.2 Type of Pavement:
RTG runways : Specific strip of land required as RTG crane wheels path and may be separately strengthened depending
on the RTG Crane wheel load specifications
7.3 Method of design
Runways for cranes shall be reinforced concrete beams supported on compacted ground or on piles.
Concrete Beams shall be designed and constructed as per the specifications of IS: 456.
Therefore Pavement slab will be designed as per IS 456 by considering Beam/ Slab resting on ground having size 4.45m
X 2m
Assuming slab thikness ₌ 0.4 m
Self wt /m ₌ 20 kN/m
