FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION FEEDERS

Using a variable frequency power source for vibratory feeders, the job of optimization of the
vibrating system can be simplified.
To obtain the condition of resonance of the mechanical vibrating system (coil, springs, container,
etc..), is sufficient to modify the frequency through the 4 rotating switch on the panel of the power
supply; in order from left to right are defined hundreds, tens, units, tenths of Hz.
Because this regulation can be done while the system is running the optimal frequency can be
determined very quickly.
This inverter for vibrators is housed in a box that has also function of heat sink.
It can be fixed to a panel with two M6 screws and electrical connections are made with
connectors.
The power supply is protected through internal fuses.
The overload is controlled from an electronic protection with autoreset and is signalled from a red
led; after five autoreset the inverter stay in fault state, while a green led signals the Run state.
The device is protect from short circuit of the load.
The inverter has a temperature sensor for overheating, if the internal temperature is over 70°, the
inverter goes to stop state and the red led blinks.
The switch SW4 enable (up) or disable (down) the accelerometer sensor.
The inverter is factory set with the switch SW1 down.
The switch SW1 invert the operation of sensor enable run (PC3) START connector pin 4:
Up, the device detects sensor enable run
Down, the device detects that sensor enable run
The device at power-on is in stop state, then to enable run the load set the external command or
use a floating contact in the (PC3) START connector pin 2.

SETTING REFERENCE VALUE OF TENSION ON THE LOAD

The value of external reference voltage is adjustable in the connector POT. (access PC4)
The jumper JS1 (closed) define the possibility of giving the reference voltage 0-10V external,
otherwise (open) for a 10K potentiometer or an external reference from 0-5V.

SETTING INVERTER-OK / INVERTER-RUN

Signaling function inverter ok/run through a contact in the connector INV.OK is settable whith
jumper JS2 inverter-ok (open), inverter-run (closed).
With Inverter-OK relay contact NO is closed if the inverter don t sees failures.
With Inverter-RUN relay contact NO is closed if the inverter is running.

SETTING PNP/NPN START AND SENSOR PNP/NPN

The run command and the sensor are settable by jumper through PNP/NPN input,
start (H2 2 positions), sensor (H3 2 positions). The jumper on the right set PNP command or PNP
sensor, jumper on the left set NPN command or NPN sensor.

SETTING FREQUENCY
The value of frequency are settable through rotating switches SW3, in order from left to right are
defined hundreds, tens, units, tenths of Hz.

0 5 0 0

In the example the frequency is set to 50,0 Hz.

The data of frequency can be set from 10,0 Hz to 140,0 Hz.

SETTING SOFT START AND SOFT STOP

Allows you to set the start ramp and the stop ramp when there is a start and stop command.
The devices, for default, have set the soft start and soft stop at 0,5 Sec.

To make this setting place the device with the rotating switch of houndreds at 5, then power-up
the device; the rotating switch of units sets the soft start and the rotating switch of tenths sets the
soft stop.

5 0 2 4

In the example the soft start (2) is set at 1 Sec. and soft stop (4) at 2 Sec.
Each value is 0,5 Sec. The value 0 for soft start is equal to 0,1 Sec. for soft stop enables the brake.

SETTING BRAKE FORCE

The function brake allows to have the stop of vibrator much faster.
Enable the brake: power-up the device with SW3 set at 5 0 x 0 , wait 3 sec., shut down.
To set the brake force power-up the device with the rotating switch of houndreds at 7, the rotating
switch of tens, units and tenths sets the brake force.

7 0 5 0

The example sets the brake force at 5,0 %.

The range of values is from 0,1 % to 99,9 %.

SETTING START DELAY

Allows to set the start delay.
The device at default have the start delay at 0 Sec.

To set start delay put the device with the rotating switch of hundreds to 3, the rotating switch of tens, units,
tenths sets the start delay.

3 0 9 0

The example sets the start delay at 9,0 Sec.

The range of values is from 0,0 to 30,0 Sec.

SETTING STOP DELAY

Allows to set the stop delay.
The device at default have the stop delay at 0 Sec.

To set stop delay put the device with the rotating switch of hundreds to 4, the rotating switch of
tens, units, tenths sets the stop delay.

4 1 5 0

The example sets the stop delay to 15,0 Sec.

The range of values is from 0,0 to 30,0 Sec.

SETTING PROPORTIONAL AND INTEGRAL PARAMETERS

This parameters optimize the compensation of load and power supply.
When you have large load or power supply variations, increasing the parameter proportional
increase the speed of compensation. Increasing the integral parameter dampens any oscillations of
to the system.
To make this setting power-up the device with the rotating switch of hundreds at 6, the rotating
switch of units sets the proportional parameter and the rotating switch of tenths sets the integral
parameter.

6 0 4 2

The example sets the proportional parameter at value 4 and integral parameter at value 2.
The parameters at default have the value 6 0 3 0. The range of sets is from 0 to 9.

SETTING CURRENT LIMIT

This function allow to set the maximum permissibile current to the magnet at a set value.
To make this setting power-up the device with the rotating switch of hundreds at 2, the rotating
switch of tens sets the ampere, the rotating switch of units sets the ampere tenths and the rotating
switch of tenths sets the ampere cents.

2 1 0 0

The example sets the current limit at 1,00A. The range of sets is from 0,01 to 3,00/6,00 Ampere.
If you set a limit greater than the target equipment (3/6A), the inverter takes the maximum
permissible limit.
If in the same vibrator there are more coils connected in parallel, the limit current to set is the sum
of the currents of all coils.

IF YOU WISH TO RETURN TO SET OR CHANGE SETTING THE FREQUENCY,

WAIT FOR 3 SEC, TURN OFF, SELECT THE NEW SET OR THE FREQUENCY AND
POWER ON AGAIN. PREVIOUS SETTINGS ARE SAVED IN MEMORY.

connecting the power supply to the vibrator.

START UP

Verify that the equipment is mounted in vertical position.

Verify the inverter is power-off.
Verify switch SW1 lever status is down so that the equipment can receive the start command
whitout other enable signal.
Verify switch SW4 lever status is down so that the equipment can operate.
whitout the acceleration sensor.
Verify that the equipment is locked and that all screws are tightened.
Verify that all connections and screws are fastened.
Set the frequency of load at factory value.
Connect the power supply to the mains 230 Vac through M2 (PC1) and to the vibrator through
M3 (PC2).
Turn on the inverter and set the start command through START (PC3)
The load is now supplied at the frequency and voltage of the power supply in POT\REF.

In practice, the search of the resonance frequency is made by checking the effects on the product
feeding obtained by regulating the rotating switches.
Than, proceed by further trials until you find the position of the rotating switches SW3 which
determines the best vibration.
After having reached it increase (or decrease) the potentiometer to obtain the required vibration
level

N.B.: The system maintain the same settings at next start, a stop command should be given
before power off. If you replace the equipeme, repeat start up.
Install in a clean, dry and make sure that is not subject to vibration

CONTINUOUS CYCLE OPERATION

A continuous operation can involve, if working current reaches the maximum current (of the
vibrator coil), phenomena of thermal drift in the inductance of the vibrator.
Working near current limit of the power supply short interruptions of operation can be observed
due to the protection circuit for overcurrent.
The device can operate at continuous cycle until 3/6 Ampere depending on the version.

ALTERNATED CYCLE OPERATION

If the run command of the device is managed from a product presence or absence sensor, the start
and stop delay can be modified; in this operating mode there is a minimal thermal drift and
mechanical-electrical stress are reduced.

OPERATION WITH ACCELEROMETER

Using the device with an accelerometer there is a movement feedback.
The equipment recognizes the presence of the accelerometer Digisystem SP040600 when it is
connected and the switch SW4 is up, the output voltage of the device is modified automatically in
order to maintain the amplitude of set up vibrations.
The accelerometer is very sensitive therefore is important to install the sensor so that there are not
spurious vibrations but there are only the normal system vibrations. The positioning must be made
remembering that larger it is signal of the sensor , better is the precision in the maintenance of the
oscillation; this will be obtained installing the accelerometer with the arrow in the direction of the
oscillation and where oscillations have maximum amplitude (not more than 5 mm) peak to peak.
The device signals a fault of the accelerometer with 2 Flash of the red led and the load stop.
In this case turn-off the device disable accelerometer (SW4 lever = low) and turn-on the device.
For further information on the accelerometer see the manual SP040600.
