MATERIAL SELF

1. Explain the role of media such as television, social applications, and magazines in relation to the
consumption of goods and services. Are you easily influenced by advertisements?
As we live in a civilized society, technology plays an increasingly significant role in our daily
life as well as in many industries such as business. Companies utilize social media (a technological
output) to promote products and services more effectively.
People genuinely alter what they would like to be, depending on their personalities, if they
become foolish or otherwise, in the form of such stunning art that customers may see or hear
intriguing advertisements all of the time. Advertising is a form of marketing that is used to convince,
encourage, or influence a target market to continue or take a new actions. Marketing may be found
on a variety of platforms, including social media, television, social media applications, magazines, and
other publications, and it can entice customers to purchase a product through enticing commercials.
Consumers are surrounded with pictures on tv, the internet, and publications that promote the value
of material items such as designer dresses, smart phones, and automobiles. Marketing has an impact
on how people purchase and consume products by influencing their purchasing behavior. Many
individuals thought that being a materialistic person was connected to advertising. Values associated
with ownership are known as materialism. We are continuously enthralled by the latest items and
concepts. People become materialistic as a result of marketing because they believe that "things" are
more vital to our happiness.
I am not readily persuaded by commercials since I base my purchase decisions on a product's
utility, benefit, and quality. I buy items when I need them and occasionally when I desire them. I
concentrated on my needs rather than my wants. As a result, before buying a product, a person
should ask himself or herself a crucial question: Do I truly need this?

2. Elucidate the main quality of a wise buyer. Now, what is the difference between needs and
wants? You may cite situational instances.
A wise customer will not be dissatisfied with his purchase. As a result, we believe that
sensible buying entails purchasing the appropriate goods or services at the appropriate time, location,
and price. This is the procedure for wisely deciding to purchase anything so that you do not regret it
later. Deliberate, analytical, affective control, flexibility, and universality are five broad qualities of the
smart consumer identified by Luchs' research. For example, intelligent buyers who appear to be
getting a good price avoid purchasing items that they believe will not be of great importance or that
will not significantly increase their well-being. When they determine that purchasing anything would
improve their well-being, they tend to choose high-quality items that align with their ideals, such as
environmental protection. Consumers who are wise recognize that their resources and priorities shift
through time. The constant message, though, is that people should make deliberate decisions that
increase their well-being rather than just reacting to market pressures.
A wise consumer can tell the difference between desires and necessities. Wants are desires
for products and services that we want but don't need. Many desires may appear to be needs. Needs
are a type of want that refers to items that we must have in order to live. Today, the entire world is
dealing with a pandemic that is affecting everyone's everyday lives, including students who used to go
to school to study but now have to learn in a different way due to the pandemic. The mode of
learning today which is online distance learning, was created to allow students to keep their
education without putting themselves into brought by the COVID-19. For example, student needs
devices such as smartphone, tablet, or laptop, as well as access to the internet in order to participate
in online learning. While students' desires may include creating a premium subscription for YouTube,
Netflix, Iflix, and other streaming platforms, paying to possess a skin or hero in Mobile Legends, as
well as other recreational activities that demand payment.

SPIRITUAL SELF
Reflection: How often do I pray for God to bring about spiritual growth in certain areas of my life,
and am I willing to listen when He answers those prayers?
I constantly pray to God, not just when I need His guidance, as well as when I want to express
my gratitude to Him. I usually ask God to help me improve spiritually in specific aspects of my life.
Praying has been one of the seven essential habits, and it allows us to connect with God and ask Him
for anything, such as providing for our needs, forgiving our mistakes, asking for His direction, letting
go of my resentment and hatred, and asking for His protection. We worship, honor, and show our
adoration for Him through prayer. When we pray, we receive courage from God, we believe that He is
with us, and we are encouraged to take bold strides forward.
After praying, I am ready to listen to Him when He responded my prayers because what
good is prayer if we are not willing to hear when He responded to our prayers? God responded to our
prayers in a variety of ways that we are unaware of, therefore we must discern how He responds to
our pleas. I've learnt not to regard God like a genie in a bottle who has to be rubbed to fulfill my
wishes. It's okay if He doesn't respond my prayer and I still continue to worship Him; and  if He does, I
still praise Him and be thankful. I've come to embrace the words "no" and "not now" as part of God's
plan for my existence. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Believe in God with all our hearts and rely not on our own
wisdom, in all our ways surrender to him, and that he will keep our tracks right." Whatever
His response, His plan is the greatest one.

DIGITAL SELF
Considering your digital self, how do you describe a responsible technology user? Provide concrete
examples.
Technology has become so ingrained in most people's lives that it constantly takes a second
place. It's easy to overlook about when it's going smoothly, as it usually is. This may be harmful
because it causes us to take things for granted, become careless with security, and forget there are
still hazards involved with using it. We must be careful in the use technology to prevent the hazards
connected with it, such as identity fraud, misleading information, and false information.
Being a responsible digital citizen entails utilizing technology in a safe and acceptable
manner. Respect, inform, and defend people online by learning and act on the notion of responsible
digital citizenship. The norms of netiquette have always been observed and followed by responsible
users (internet etiquette). The term "netiquette" refers to a set of guidelines for appropriate online
behavior.
In these three situations, a responsible tech user can be shown. You started by going to the
computer shop to do your tasks. You notice that the previous user of the computer neglected to sign
out his account when you access Facebook. Rather than invading others' privacy and making a post
that can ruin the owner's account or changing his password so that he can no longer use it, as an
ethical technology user, you must respect his privacy and sign out his account. Another situation is
that you are a computer smart individual with specialists in every workplace, having knowledge  more
than others or wielding more power than they would do not provide you the right to abuse others.
System administrators, for example, must never read personal email. Lastly, if you have an enemy, do
not engage in activities such as publishing against him and blackmailing him/her online but rather talk
with him/her in private.
