Introduction
This quick start guide is intended to provide information on commonly used features of TrendPro.
More details can be found on FactoryTalk View SE user manual.

Starting application
The application shall be started automatically during PC start-up, if the application is closed, it can be
opened by double-clicking on the application Icon on Windows Desktop.

TrendPro Interface

Item Name Description


1 Toolbar Displays the commonly used commands
2 Tag Explorer Displays the hierarchy of folders in a tree view that represents the areas
and tag
folders of the data sources.
When you select a folder, its tags are listed in an alphabetically sortable list
on the
Items pane at the bottom. Double-click a tag to add it to the chart. At run
time, you can
also drag and drop one or multiple tags to the chart.
3 Time Bar Provides options to select a time period using absolute or relative time.
When using absolute time, you select specific dates and times for the start
and end of
the time period. When using relative time, you select a typical time period,
such as the
Last 5 minutes or Last week.
4 Chart Displays data from one or more tags, also known as traces, over a period of
time
5 Tag List Displays the list of traces that are currently on the chart.

Adjusting Time Period


Time period of the graph displayed can be adjusted to interested time period by the following steps:

1. Right-click on chart
2. Select “Properties”

3. On “General” tab, Select “Time Period” from the panel at the left-hand side.
4. In the “Period” group, select from “Last XXX minute” or “Custom” to define time period to
display on graph.

Overlay Multiple Time Period


User can overlay trending from different period of time on graph for comparison by doing the
following steps:

1. Right-click on graph
2. Select “Time Period”
3. Select “New”
4. When executed, the background colour of Time bar displaying the time period will be
changed.

5. Click on the drop-down button on the time bar and define the new time period
6. The trend for new time period will be plotted on the chart.

User can choose to hide or show selected time period as shown below:

Add or remove traces


Traces on chart can added or removed by the following steps:

To add:

1. Right-click on chart, Select properties


2. Go to “Traces” Tab, click the green plus button on the bottom left of the window.
3. Select the Data Logs model and tag(s) to plot on chart, then click “OK” to add traces into the
chart.
Alternatively, traces could also be added by browsing the intended tag(s) from tag explorer, and
then double-click on the tag to be added in chart.
To remove traces:

1. Right-click on chart, select properties.


2. Go to traces tab, select Tag(s) to be deleted and then click on the red cross button at the
bottom left of the window.

Alternatively, right-click on tag traces in tag list to remove trace.


Trend Cursors
Trend cursors on toolbar can be used for the following purpose:

1. Display trace value at cursors location


2. Compare traces value at one instant
3. Define time period for statistics calculation
4. Define time period for trace data extraction

Starting or stopping chart updates


User can control the chart updates by toggling “Live Mode” button on toolbar as indicated below:
Adjust Y-axis range
Y-axis of each trace can be adjusted by navigating to chart properties as shown below:

1. Right-click on chart, select properties


2. Go to “Traces” tab.
3. Select “Y-axis”
Stack or Un-stack Y-axis
Y-axis of traces on chart can be stack or un-stack using “stack tag y-axes” button on the toolbar as
indicated below:

When un-stacked, toggle “visibility” of traces in tag list to select Y-axis to display on chart
Statistic display
Statistic of trace data can be calculated using “Statistic” button on toolbar

User can further define statistic to be calculated within interested time period in the drop-down list
as shown below:
Exporting Trend chart
The chart shown on display can be exported using print function or image capture

Printing trend graph using “print” function on toolbar:

To export an image, simple right-click on chart and select “Capture Image…” as shown below:
Exporting Trend Data
Trace(s) data could be extract to csv file by doing the following:

1. Right-click on chart, select “Trace Data”

2. Select time period of data to be exported

3. Click “Save” button to define save location and save as .csv file.
Utilizing Trend Template
User can save and re-apply their favourite chart display, style and arrangement by using template
buttons group on the toolbar as shown below:

Save Template
When pressed, user will be prompted to name the template, once completed, click “Save” to save
the chart arrangement on display.
Apply Template
When pressed, user will be prompted to select from a list of saved templates, select one and click
“Apply” to execute the template.
Delete Template
When pressed, user will be prompted to select template from a list of saved template, select and
click on “Delete” to execute the action. Please note that this action cannot be undone.
