PREFINAL EXAMINATION

Name: _____________________________________________ Date: _______________________

Strand and Section: ___________________________ Class Schedule: ______________________
Direction: Your task is to explain critically and elaborate comprehensively the given essays regarding on the
topics about human freedom and intersubjectivity. You are being challenged to exhaust your
knowledge of the lessons. Your output will be graded based on the following criteria: Content and
Elaboration (30pts.), Organization of Ideas (15pts.), and Grammar (5pts.). Total of 50 points each item.

1. Human person is free because God gives him freedom. Human nature is the best domain where the
authentic meaning of freedom lies. If human nature is good, since it comes from God, therefore, freedom
is freedom only in the realm of the humanness of man. Thus, it is only where we are human that we can
exercise our freedom. Freedom, therefore, means the option and the obligation of man to do good. We
are free to do anything we want to do, but the only thing is that we are not free from the consequences
of our action. There is no freedom apart from the law; laws are meant to regulate, guide, and control
man’s exercise of freedom.

2. Human person is a unique creature, but he is never alone in his existence in the world. Man has that
indelible trademark of his “being-with” existence in the world. Thus, in man’s intersubjectivity, man is
called to treat his fellowman as a person. Man’s co-existence or intersubjectivity, in one hand, does not
require a learning process or experience since man’s “being-with” is a priori and intrinsic in his being a
person. On the other hand, man’s being-with-others requires a learning process in the context of the
quality or mode of man’s being-with, since human relatedness is not immediately given but needs to be
established.
