Introduction
Construction industry is always searching for strategies to decrease costs and increase efficiency
and sustainability. Additive Manufacturing (AM) or most commonly known as 3D Printing has played
significant function in the advancement in construction industry[CITATION Mas19 \l 13321 ].

In UAE, Construction industry specialists have the interest in 3D Printing applications.

Government also have announced its objective that by the year 2030, no less than twenty five percent
(25%) of the new structures in Dubai should use the 3D printing innovation[ CITATION Far18 \l 13321 ] .

Additive Manufacturing Challenges

Uncertainties and challenges are always present in the execution of the new technological
innovation. According to Weinstein and Nawara who stated their doubts in 3D Printing in large scale
construction, the challenge is the availability of low-cost materials and affordable labors. Skilled workers
are needed in implementing this new innovation [ CITATION Wei15 \l 13321 ] .

Additive Manufacturing Material Risks

In 3D printing, one of the most important components is the materials. There are certain
specifications in choosing materials that could provide low-risk option.

Social Disadvantages
There’s always a disadvantage in implementing new technology in construction industry and one
of these is that it minimize the need for labor works. It can create problems to those who rely on their
jobs, even if it has its benefits as it reduced labor costs.

Solutions
In order to have the full potential in Additive Manufacturing in construction industry, continuous
effort in designing the most sustainable 3D printing system is thriving.

Conclusion and Recommendations

Even though the use of Additive Manufacturing in construction industry is still in its early stage,
further research is needed to obtain the most efficient system.
