SURGICAL OUTPATIENTS
Job description
JOB SUMMARY:
1. To locate patients medical notes from Medical Records and other areas around
the hospital. This may involve lifting of case notes frequently throughout the
course of the day and in some cases you will be required to push a trolley
filled with medical notes. You will then prepare medical case notes for
clinics, and obtain investigation results.
2. To ensure all speciality clinics are prepared according to Prep SOP.
3. To reception clinics including, the welcoming of patients using In -Touch system,
booking follow up appointments, recording DNAs, keeping patients informed of
any delays to their appointments and maintaining accurate records of patient
attendance, departure time, appointment outcome and ensuring patient's personal
details are up dated.
4. To ensure that the reception desk and waiting areas are maintained in a
presentable manner maintaining patient confidentiality.
5. To deal with patient and staff enquiries clearly, by phone and in person,
promptly, efficiently and politely, resolving local issues and relaying
messages where necessary.
6. To liaise with the supervisor to ensure that they are aware of any potential
problems with the clinic.
7. To record/update/retrieve data using PIMS/eRS/EPR/In-Touch computer systems
and any new systems as they are introduced, to acceptable data quality standards.
To record data using any manual systems in place.
8. To liaise with medical staff present in the clinic, advising them of the current
availability of appointment times and action required for patients who do not
attend.
9. To work as a member of the Outpatients clerical team. Whilst the post holder
will be based in an agreed area they may be expected to cover work within
other areas of your department as service demand dictates
10. To assist in the maintenance of the filing system of hospital records held
within the clinic area and to undertake any audits that are required.
11. To liaise with medical, nursing and other staff as required.
12. To help with the training of new members of staff within the department
13. To scan referrals to EPR as required and perform other scanning duties.
14. To ensure all 2WW patients are issued with an appropriate appointment, and that
this information is emailed to the Cancer Data office within 24 hours.
GENERAL
