A COCO name can have up to 4 letters. The first letter is generally used by ISOGEN to determine the type of
connection.
The following COCO table codes are used to set the connection types of flanged items. Each character defines a
different attribute of the appropriate type.

Example:
The detail text name for valves is an exception as it may not include the first seven characters of the CATREF.
Instead, the detail text may be specific to a data sheet (while the valve geometry is standard). The detail text reference
for the valves should be made up of the client reference, followed by the valve tag number, padded with zeroes as
necessary to make up the standard length of 9 characters. For example, a Kemcor valve with tag number VC946
would be KEVC94600. (Note: the CATREF Auto flag in the catalogue database form should be set to “off”).
Where the first two characters of the detail text reference the client, special coding of the second character may be
present to signify the standard or class of the valve, as per the following table. For some older projects, the 8th and 9th
characters of the detail text code combined refer to the client valve tag number, as per the list on the following page(s).
The 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th characters of the detail text code are then as per the CATREF.
For a client specific (tagged) valve type, the detail text itself will always include the client valve tag number. In
instances where no client tag number exists, the detail text name code for the valve will be as per the CATREF; the 8th
character will reference the manufacturer’s part numbers and the 9th character will be 0.
Example:
ABVGBBR01-D = Valve Gate 150#RF, API 600, Rising Stem w/Non-rising Handwheel, tag G1F02.
Note: The detail text coding for valves needs to be assessed on a per project basis, and the character coding method
listed in the job notes file.
First and Second Characters of Detail Text for Valves by Client (Selected Clients Only)
Note: If additional tags are required, use suffixes 90-99, 0A-0Z, 0a-0z, AA-ZZ.
Instruments are not dealt with in the materials control system as they are not included in Material Take Off’s, thus 000
is used as the material reference.
6.3 Bolts 2
The detail text name code for bolts uses the first 7 characters of the CATREF coding. The 8th character specifies the
bolt diameter, according to table N2. The 9th character is generally set to “0”.
The CATREF coding for specialty items (SP-items) is based on the SU project number and the SP number, which is a
running number derived from a project specific register. The first five characters of the CATREF are the Shedden
Uhde project number, with leading zeroes included as required. The sixth character is an “P” to signify a special item,
and the 7th, 8th and 9th characters are the SP item number, including leading zeroes as required:
p p p p p P n n n
Where ppppp is the SU project number, 00001 to 99999, and nnn is the SP item number 001-999.
For cement and other internally lined fittings, the 7th character of the detail text name code is set to L. The description
will generally include collar stubs.

Note: Some combinations of alpha characters cannot be used, because these conflict with reserved word in the PDMS
macro syntax for units of measure, etc; for example DEG is reserved as to denote degrees.
detail text ref (less -D) - material text ref - size code
Examples:
00NPB0DP0-CKB-FF = Nipple pipe 100mm long PBE S/160 A312-TP304 25mm diam.
detail text ref (less -D) - material text ref - actual bolt length in mm
Examples:
Note that the Shedden Uhde code for bolts is stored and retrieved from a UDA associated with the DTAB.
