1. General
The purpose of the oil filter is to strain the oil delivered by the oil pump block from the oil tank into the engine
oil lines from the oil decomposition products and foreign particles.
2. Description
Filter casing (2) carries oil inlet connection (5), oil outlet connection (4) and coarse filter (12). Filter casing
(2) has two passages serving to supply oil to the first support assembly and to the external drive gearbox.
Installed on frame (6) is pack (3) of 18 to 20 filtering elements. Their quantity is dictated by Specifications
for assembly of filter.
Used as a filtering element is a metallic gauze having a clear mesh size of 0.063x0.063 mm. Frame (6) is
secured to cover (1).
Spring loaded cross-piece (7) is secured to cover (1) with the aid of screw (11). Cover (1) is secured in casing
(2) by means of cross-piece (7) by engaging its ends with lugs (8) provided on casing (2). When finger
tightening screw (11), cover (1) together with pack (3) of filtering elements is set to the operational position.
The leak tightness of the cover (l) to casing (2) joint is ensured by fitting sealing ring (10).
The chambers of strained and non-strained oil are separated by sealing ring (9).
3. Operation
The oil is supplied from the oil pump block, along a pipe via oil inlet connection (5) into filter casing (2).
Then the oil passes via the side surfaces of pack (3) of fine filtering elements into the chamber of frame (6)
and coarse filter (12) and then flows via oil outlet connection (4) and along a pipe into the engine oil lines.
Apart from this, the oil is supplied along two passages provided in casing (2) to the first support assembly
and external drive gearbox.

CORRECTIVE CHECKED
OPERATIONS AND TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS (T. R.)
ACTIONS BY
It is permissible to disassemble oil filter (7) (Ref. Fig. 202) for replacing the damaged filtering elements
and also for eliminating the faults indicated in Steps 8 and 9 of the present task card.
1. Using the tweezers, remove locking ring (6) (Ref. Fig. 203). For convenience of maintaining the relative
position of the working surfaces of the demountable and mountable parts, it is conventionally accepted
that the oil filter located on the cover side is considered to be the left side, and that located on the side of
locking ring (6) - the right side.
2. Remove sequentially from framework (9): dividing plate (7), thrust washer (4) and adjusting washer (3).
Put the removed parts in the order of their removal with their right side on the work table covered with
clean paper.
3. Remove filtering elements (8) from framework (9) to the damaged one and put them with their right side
on the table in the order of their removal.
4. Inspect sequentially, avoiding misplacing and confusion of sides, all the removed parts for freedom from
damage, burrs and dirt.
If necessary, eliminate the detected faults or replace the faulty part.
5. Remove the damaged filtering element and install the serviceable one.
NOTES: 1. It is permissible to replace the several filtering elements.
2. It is permissible to install the oil filters or filtering elements removed by the production necessity
from the other engines; in this case, the filtering elements should be serviceable and clean.

6. Install removed filtering elements (8), adjusting washer (3), thrust washer (4) and dividing plate (7) in the
order reverse to their removal with their left side on framework (9).
7. Using the tweezers, install locking ring (6).
Upon installation, turning locking ring (6) with the aid of the tweezers on both sides, make certain that the
ring is installed in its place.
8. Using a 0.05 mm feeler gauge, check the clearance on both sides between adjusting washer (3) and
filtering elements (8) (Detail "A"). The feeler gauge should not go through.
9. Holding cover (1) with one hand, check with the other hand, without applying the excessive effort, for
absence of slipping of each filtering element relative to framework (9).
10. If the clearance exceeds the normal value given in Step 8 or in case of slipping of the filtering elements
as per Step 9, install adjusting washer (3) having its thickness greater by 0.3 to 0.4 mm and repeat the
checks as indicated in Steps 8 and 9.
CAUTION: 1. THE ADJUSTING WASHER HAS SIZE STEPS 0.6 mm. 0.8 mm. 1.0 mm AND 1.5 mm.
2. IT IS PERMISSIBLE TO INSTALL TWO ADJUSTING WASHERS ONLY FROM THE RIGHT.
