2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED)

Earthquake is one of the serious disasters that caused people die or


injured. No one knows when and where it could be happened.
Earthquake is said to be a natural phenomenon caused by the constant
movements of the earth’s crustal plates and also due to climate
change.Thus, it is necessarily to that everyone must informed about the
precautionary and safety measures on how to deal or cope up with this
event.
According to the DepEd Order No. 1, Series of 2017, stated that “Per
DepEd Regional Unnumbered Memorandum dated June 8, 2017, the
2nd Quarter NationWide Simultaneously Earthquake Drill (NSED) will be
on June 29, 2017 at 2:00 pm.”This DepEd Memo also stated that, all
elementary and secondary schools are directed to conduct Earthquake
Drills simultaneously.
In this connection,the San Rafael Norte Elementary School
conducted an earthquake drill on June 29, 2017 at 2:00 in the
morning.This earthquake drill were facilitated by the teachers.The drill
was participated by 70 students from kinder to grade 6. Before the
actual drills, Mrs. Mary Grace V. Arada, a Grade Three and Four teacher
undertook an orientation about the occurence of earthquake and as
well as the causes and effect of it.The students were oriented about the
things to do during and after the earthquake which included the three
important thing such as ducking, covering and holding.The do’s and
dont’s were also dessiminated to everyone. The whole plan was
introduced to the students, includes the arrangement during this
disaster where they can be able to exit the building : the routes to be
taken in evacuating the building most especially the place where they
are safe and free from any caused.
The main highlights of this program is to strengthen disaster
preparedness, alertness and awareness for effective reaction at all times ;
during and after the said event.
This activity would not be successful without the cooperation of
DepEd officers, teachers and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and
Management Council (NDRRMC).

70 students participated in this drill.
The students were executed the duck, cover and hold.
The students were evacuated the liable building and move forward to
the safest one.
