Statement of Purpose
I have completed my under graduation in the department of Automobile engineering at

VNR Vignana Jyothi institute of engineering and technology. I am seeking admission for
the mechanical engineering at Deakin University. Through this statement of purpose I
intent to put forth my personal background, research interests, goals and reasons for
choosing your esteemed university.
Family Background:
My father is a doctor and my mother takes care of a business. As both my parents

know the value of education they always motivate me and support me for my career. They
have also planned for funding my education. I have a younger sister she is currently
pursuing her under graduation.
Academic Background:
From the early stage of my schooling, I have tried to manage my time judiciously,
which allowed me to explore topics of my own interest independently besides maintaining
a consistent academic record. I have completed my 10th in 2010 with 90% from Gautami
vidya kshetra. Given my interest in mathematics and particularly its application in
mechanical science, when it came to choosing a specialization in college after my high
school and completed my high school with an aggregate of 91.6% in the year 2012 from
Sri Chaitanya junior college. , I had no doubt about my career path at all. My proficiency in
physics and mathematics in the high school led me to choose engineering as the
professional course. Entrance exams enabled me to get into one of the top engineering
colleges of my state. By the end of my under graduation I have maintained a cgpa of 7.57
on scale of 10.
Study destination:
Though there are many universities offering higher education in India, studying
abroad is a dream come true. I started my research for other countries like Australia, USA
and UK where in the institutions are providing me with better opportunities to grow
academically improving on my theoretical and practical knowledge. My first preference
was for Masters were Australia but my parents were more keen about USA as many of my
relatives suggested that USA is top one education provider. Since then, with due respect to
my parents I had to apply for USA and got rejected twice and they were no reasons
mentioned for the refusal. The situations in USA are leading for low visa acceptance rate.
This made my parents decide on Australia as a study destination as my preference was
always Australia and have researched about the universities and the kind of education
that is been offered and have motivated me to apply for Australian universities which are
among the top 100 in the world.
Why Australia:
Australia has the third highest number of international students in the world
behind only the United Kingdom and the United States despite having a population of only
23 million. Engineering universities in Australia lay equal emphasis on theoretical as well
as practical learning. Australian system and approach to education is often emulated and
serves as a template or example for many other countries. Australia’s educational system is
internationally respected and held in high esteem. The fee structure in Australia is cheaper
than compared to UK and USA. Universities in Australia offer a wide variety of courses to
meet each and every student's requirements. The curriculum and infrastructure are latest
while the faculty is up-to-date and result-oriented. Apart from being a great place with
quality, Australia is also a fantastic place to live. 5 best student cities among 30 in the
world and a very student friendly environment like availing the jobs for students so that
one can earn for his living expenses in the period of study. Highly qualified faculty help
raise the quality of education
Purpose of proposed university:

Deakin University is among top universities in Australia. Deakin University is
accredited with Australia skills quality authority. Awarded a 5-star rating by the
prestigious university ranking organization Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). It is ranked 36 in
the QS ranking of the world's top universities under 50 years. The CADET (center for
advanced design in engineering training) facility provided allows the student to a greater
technical exposure. Deakin University is providing better research facilities and won
awards for excellence of education. University is offering with scholarships for supporting
international students for their education. Facilities like IBL (Industry based learning)
which involves working full or part time in industry as a part of studies. Deakin University
is offering Master of Engineering with its unique specializations in mechanical engineering
design and with its commitment to foster intellectual excellence is remarkable and
attractive to embark upon an academic career. Deakin University has 4 Vibrant and
friendly Campuses Melbourne Burwood Campus, Geeelong WaterFront Campus, Geelong
Waurn Ponds Campus and Warrambool Campus.
Purpose of proposed course:
The course structure of this course is promising for a student to gain technical skills
and understand industry focused problems by the end of the course. For completion of this
course student should gain 16 credit points include 6 core units (totaling 8 credit points) 4
elective units and 4 from a major study. This specialization brings together studies in
leading computer-aided engineering technologies, and advanced materials and
manufacturing, solid understanding of product and process modelling and designing for
sustainability. Programs and courses are regularly updated to ensure they stay current
and aligned with latest industry practices. Benefit from supportive teaching professionals
who offer industry-relevant, real-world experience.
Career Plans:
Although I have completed my under graduation in Specialization as automobile

engineering (mechanical). During my under graduation I got an awareness that getting in
to a broader stream related to design helps me for my career. Being a Graduate from
automobile industry I feel that Mechanical Design Course offered at Deakin University will
help me with advanced skills and Industrial Learning. After completing my masters I will
come back to India and wish to work with automobile industries like Tata, Mahindra and
Mahindra, Hyundai and Isuzu motors, Nissan Motors and I expect a pay scale of 80,000
INR per month. I have the responsibility to take care of my parents. I need to look after my
assets and savings that are in India.
I will follow and obey the subclass 500 (Higher Education Sector) visa conditions:-
1. I need to clear 50 % subjects in each semester
2. I need to have 80% attendance.
3. If I change the address or contact details, they need to inform to
DIBP / University within 7days.
4. I cannot change the university within 6 months upon enrolment.
5. OSHC must cover the full period of my course duration.
6. I can work for 40 hours per fortnight
