October 2017

Dear Valued Customer,

The 475 Field Communicator was first introduced in 2009. It immediately became one of
the most successful handheld communicators in the process industry, helping users
configure and maintain their HART® and FOUNDATION™ Fieldbus instruments.

In October 2016, Emerson introduced their next generation handheld communicator, the
AMS Trex Device Communicator. As the AMS Trex communicator does everything that
a 475 Field Communicator can – and more, the 475 Field Communicator will begin to
phase-out of production.

Starting on October 1st 2017, the 475 product line lifecycle status will change from
Current to Active. Consistent with our lifecycle policy, Emerson will provide 3 years of
support once a handheld communicator is moved to Active lifecycle status. As of
October 2018, the 475 Field Communicator will no longer be available for purchase.
Spare parts orders and repairs will continue to be available until October 2020. New
HART and Foundation Fieldbus device descriptions (DDs) will be available for units with
a valid Easy Upgrade license until October 2020. On October 30th 2020, the 475
product line will move to Retired lifecycle status. This marks the end of the factory
support commitment for the 475 product line.

We encourage you to consider the AMS Trex communicator for your future needs. In
addition to configuring smart instruments, AMS Trex offers new Apps for diagnosing
issues in the field. The optional Device Communicator Plus module can power two-wire
HART and FOUNDATION Fieldbus instruments directly from the handheld, eliminating
extra tools and reducing work time. If you have an AMS Device Manager system, you
can automatically sync your field data with your asset management database.
