The key takeaways are that the course teaches integrated petroleum system-based exploration techniques using Petrel software, focusing on play evaluation, lead identification, and prospect assessment.

The overall goal of the course is for participants to learn how to do play evaluation that integrates all elements of the petroleum system into objective and documented results that can be used to understand and rank opportunities.

The course will cover fundamentals of petroleum systems and play concepts, play fairway mapping, play chance mapping, resource assessment, probabilistic volumetrics, and Petrel's suite of integrated petroleum system tools like Petroleum Systems Quick Look and Play to Prospect Risk.

Petrel Petroleum System-based Play-to-

Prospect Exploration: Integrated

Exploration Techniques and Workflows using
Petrel Exploration Geology Software
The overall goal of this 5-day course is for the participant to learn how to do play evaluation that
integrates all the elements of the petroleum system into geologically-based, objective, consistent
and documented results that can be used to understand and rank opportunities. The participants
will learn to keep their play and prospect evaluation live and usable whenever new
understanding or data becomes available. Foremost, they will understand why integrated
petroleum system-based exploration is an industry best practice.

The participant will learn how the fundamentals of petroleum systems and play concepts are an
essential part of best practice Exploration. These fundamentals will be integrated in a series of
exercises that demonstrate the basics of how play fairway mapping of the petroleum system
elements is used to create play chance maps and assess play resources. The play level assessment
of resources and play chance are then the basis for doing probabilistic volumetrics and
determining the chance of success for the leads and prospects within the play.

Participants will evaluate a concession area using the Petrel Exploration Geology suite of
integrated petroleum system-based play to prospect exploration tools and workflows (Petroleum
Systems Quick Look and Play to Prospect Risk). The concession analysis goes from initial area
screening, to play evaluation and lead identification, to the final assessment of the prospects
developed from the leads. It includes learning to keep play and prospect evaluations live and
usable whenever new understanding or data becomes available.

The petroleum system-based workflows are all performed in Petrel using Schlumbergers suite of
Integrated Petroleum System-based Play to Prospect exploration tools and workflows (Petroleum
Systems Quick Look and Play to Prospect Risk). The participants will know the theory behind
the tools inputs and workflows and be able to use these tools to do play and prospect evaluations
after this course.
