1-What was/were the learning objectives/outcomes of the lesson? (Add state objectives if
known, for example, TEKS 111.4. Grade 2.b.)

I cant see any objectives because the camera located and faced to the students, also it looks like
the video is not from beginning of the class. I think the video recorder from right after the
objectives or beginning of the activity starting. Because she is telling what materials they need.

2-How did the teacher begin and end the lesson?

She began the activities with counting what material they need during the activity with small
explanation of the step than start with hers like example and finish looks like done how she
planned. Also she gives them example how they can practice at home, with their piggy coin bar.
It is not look like an assignment, because it is possible they do not collect any coins at home.

3-What did the teacher use for teaching materials or instructional aids/equipment?

She use the plastic coins which are planned for classroom use during calculating money, zip lock
for keeping materials, white desk board, and tissue for cleaning.

4-Which instructional methods and strategies did the teacher use? ( lecture, inquiry,
discovery learning, discussions, games or simulations, demonstrations, cooperative learning,
integration of technology, secretive questioning, etc)

As her activity is separated a few steps (around 7) and each step she use different strategy. She
starts with cooperative learning and then continue with discussion. In totally the activity is a
game or simulations.
5-How did the teacher assess learning? (informal, formal, formative, summative, oral, open-
ended, quiz, feedback etc) See Chapter 8 for more information on assessment methods

She used formal formative and summative learning style.

6- What can you say about the teachers philosophy/beliefs and style?
(Traditional/progressive, behaviorist, student-centered vs. teacher centered, authoritative etc)

It was traditional behaviorist teaching philosophy and style.

7-How does the teacher manage classroom? Can you identify classroom management
techniques used?

She manages classroom normal. It should be more active for 3rd grade class. She might ask
question to a group instead of always calling the name. There were only some active students.
For this grade level it was low question and answer, looks students boring during the class.

8-Observe in the classroom setting and determine types of behavior students play when off-
task. What do they do when they are not paying attention? How does the teacher re-direct
them or get them back on task?

As I told previous question that looks like students boring and some of them work with their hair
and some of them on sleepy mode, some of them just try to show themselves that they thinking
something. She tries to use call name for questing strategy to keep them in task.

9-How does the teacher communicate with students (verbal, vocal, meta-verbal or non-verbal
communication such as facial, body language, use of space, motion and time?)

She communicates with students verbally.

10-Who were the students in the class? What did you notice about them? (Background,
diversity, attitude, motivation, interaction, participation, etc)

There were regular class with all students and it called diversity class. Motivated to participate
the activity.
11-What did you see that is effective in engaging students? What do you see that is
ineffective in keeping students engaged?

The effective to engaging students is creating visual activity and giving them time to discuss
group mate for the result. The board for writing and driving result is helping them to learn 25
times more than informative assignments. The part was engaged.

classroom?

The group activity to creating and separating them a few part is more effective I would like to
use in my Technology application class.

like to apply in your classroom?

I want to say it wasnt a big problem for teaching 3rd grade students, and she even havent any
hard time for classroom management. With those I saw that teacher using calling name for
questions, walking around and talking with facing to students.
