INTRODUCTION
Curriculum study Groups are a powerful way to join forces with
other teachers of the same subject and grade under the guidance of a
Master Teacher.
Instead of planning our lessons from scratch we will build on the
wisdom and resources of our CSG to make our teaching the best, it can
be as a CSG member we will

students

Connect with a community of teachers of the same subject and
grade from around the country.
Teaching a new subject or grade level or teaching to new standards
is a challenge best taken on with support. Our Master Teacher will walk
their curriculum each week, sharing all of their materials and insights to
help you be the best teacher you can be. Our Master Teachers are
national leaders for their expertise and contribution.

NCERT
The national council of Educational Research and Training is an
apex resource organization established in September. 1961 by the
Government of India. With headquarters at New Delhi, the NCERT
assists and advises the Central and State Governments on academic
matters related to school education.
The NCERT is responsible for making renovation in the field of
education. It has under taken more than 50 projects in fundamental and
applied areas of educational research. The organization conducts studies
by analysis comparison, and practice teaching methods, teacher
preparation and development, text book, evaluation and development of
instructional materials. The National Council has continuously analysed
and revelowed the objectives of education and its means. The N.C.E.R.T.
the professional as in of the union ministry of education defines the
objectives of education, it mean for raising and promoting of standards.
Aims of N.C.E.R.T
1. To investigate the fundamental process of learning and thinking
which include the nature for achievement.

2. The investigate the techniques and methods of curriculum


development stressing the inter relationship of various subjects or
the level of determinable competence that can be achieved or how
curriculum can be formulated

so as to achieve concepts and

corresponding understanding.
3. To examine how textbooks in important subject fields can be made
to reflect the concept and understanding built in the curriculum
N.C.E.R.T has developed sequential material for text book teachers
guides students workbooks and audio visual aids
4. To develop extension service to make the teacher an effective
instrument of change and to link up, research in teacher
preparation, development and practice in the field.
5. To develop in service training of teachers teacher educators
educational administrators and research workers.
Constituents
There are a number of constituents of the NCERT through
which it provides academic and technical support for the improvement
of school education. They are,

National Institute of Education (NIE) New Delhi It carries out


research and development. Function related to pedagogical aspects
of curriculum preparers curricular and other supplementary
instructional

materials,

develops

school

education-

related

database, undertake experiments in programmes related to


preschool, elementary and secondary stages, organizes in service
training for key resource persons and teachers educators, publishes
school level text books, documents educational in formation etc.

Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET) New Delhi.


It performs educational media related development of such media
functions related to training, production and extension, provides
academic and technical guidance and support to the state institute
of Educational technology.

3.

Pandit sunderlal sharma central institute of vocational Education


(PSSCIVT, Bhopal It undertakes functions related to research and
development of vocational education in the school sector.

The four Regional Institute of Education (RIts) at Ajmer, Bhopal,


Bhuvaneshwar and Mysore. Pre services teacher training courses in
service teacher training courses, regional seminars and research
work are conducted in the four RIES.

Field Advisors offices- located mostly in the state capitals carry out
liaising with departments of education and other related
institutions. On problems and programmes of the SCERT. Lately
most of these officers have been phased out.6

The important activities of the NCERT are in six major areas


1. Research:- Besides conducting in house research, the NCERT
supports research programmes of other institutions by providing
financial assistance and academic guidance. Assistance is given to
scholars for publication of their Ph. D theses. Research fellowships
are offered to encourage studies in school education to create a
research

base

for

developmental

training

and

extension

programmes and create a pool of competent research workers.


2. Training:- Another important dimension of the activities of the
NCERT is the pre-service and in service training of teachers at
various levels ( pre primary) elementary, secondary n and higher
secondary) and also in such areas as vocational education,
educational technology, guidance and counseling, and special
education.
3. Extension: The NCERT has comprehensive extension programmes
in which various departments of the Nit, RIES, CIET, PSSCIVE
and the offices of the field advisers in the states are engaged in
various ways. It works in close collaboration with various ways. It

curriculum and instructional material for various levels of school


education and steps for making them relevant to changing needs of
children and society at the same time.
5. Publication and Dissemination:- The NCERT publishers text books
for different school subjects for class I to XII. It also brings out
workbooks, teachers guides, supplementary readers, research
reports etc. In addition, it publishers instructional materials for the
use of teacher educators, teacher trainees and teacher in services
These instructional materials produced through research and
developmental work, serve as models to various agencies in the
state and union Territories. These are made available to state level
agencies for adoption and for adoption.
6. Exchange programmes:- The NCERT, interacts with international
organizations such as the UNESCO, UNICEF, UNDP, NFPA and
the world Bank to study specific educational

SCERT is the parallel organization to the NCERT that look after
the quality of education at the state level, for which they receive the
guidelines of the NCERT. The SCERT is directly concerned with the
in service programmes for secondary school teachers. It is also
directly and indirectly connected with the in service training of
primary and pre-primary teachers by giving administrative and
managerial leadership to the activities of the DIETs
The council designs programmes for updating knowledge and skills
in various aspects of education for secondary school teachers and
teacher educators in the TTIs and provides guidelines for the
programmes to be organized by the DIETs. It also develops curricula
for schools, prepares hand books and other instructional materials for
teachers, to enable them make instruction modern and technology
oriented. Also they conduct research studies, the findings of which are
transmitted to teachers for making their work dynamic.
SCERT has made a serious attempt to institutionalize teachers in
service education as it is an essential component for their professional
growth. Systematic efforts have been made to bring in clarity about
the focus and perspective of in service education and develop
implement a model of training involving the following steps.

SCERT is also conducting an in service B.Ed. course with
due recognition from NCTE and a affiliation with GGSIPU, Delhi.
The approved intake is of students per year. This course is unique
because the students are in service Assistant Teachers from

the

education department of GNCT Delhi who are due for promotion to


TGT, but cannot be promoted due to lack of B.Ed. qualification. The
students are paid their full salaries by their department during the
session.

Conclusion
The NCERT prepares a big stock of objective based model question in
all school subjects NCERT text books and allied materials are used in
central school and many schools under C.B.SE and Navodaya
Vidyalas. It also encourage out of school activities for popularizing
science.
