PART 1 - GENERAL 1.01 DESCRIPTION This section covers providing and installing resilient flooring as specified herein and as shown on the drawings. Furnish all materials, labor, tools, equipment, supervision required to complete the work. Types of resilient flooring: Tile and Seamless Sheet Flooring in pattern and design for high performance in specific areas indicated on the drawings. Provide and install all accessories, adhesives, joint sealing compound etc., as required for a complete installation. Tiles and sheets used in this project shall be from the same batch/lot and from the same supplier in order to avoid color and quality variance. SUBMITTALS Submit to the SAUDI ARAMCO Representative the following: 1. Manufacturer's Data: Submit manufacturer's technical information, installation and maintenance instructions for resilient tiles, sheets, and accessories. Samples: Submit three full-size sample tiles and 305mm (12) square sample sheets of each type and color required, representative of the expected range of color and pattern variation. Include two (2) samples of 305 mm (12) long each color of accessory items required for the project. Sample submittals shall be reviewed for color, texture, and pattern only. Compliance with other requirements shall be the Contractors responsibility. 3. Submit the above to the SAUDI ARAMCO Representative for approval before procurement actions are initiated.

Maintenance Stock: At time of completing the installation, deliver stock of maintenance material to SAUDI ARAMCO. Furnish units matching the units installed, packaged with protective covering for storage and identified with appropriate labels, in a quantity not less than 5% of the amount installed. DELIVERY AND STORAGE Deliver materials to the project site in the manufacturers original unopened containers, clearly marked to indicate pattern, gauge, lot number, and sequence of manufacture. Carefully handle all materials and store in original containers at not less than 21 deg. C for at least 48 hours before start of installation. JOB CONDITIONS Continuously heat spaces to receive resilient flooring to a temperature of 15 deg. C, for at least 48 hours prior to installation whenever project conditions are such that heating is required. Maintain 15 deg. C temperature continuously during and after installation as recommended by the manufacturer, but for not less than 48 hours. Maintain a temperature of not less than 15 deg. C in areas where work is completed.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.01 A. MATERIALS Colors and Patterns: Provide units with uniformly distributed color and pattern throughout the thickness of the tiles and sheets. Variation in shades and pattern between packages shall not be acceptable. Tiles and Sheets: Mat, extremely durable, suitable for heavy traffic area, with non-woven glass fibre reinforcement, high resistance to indentation. Floor classification shall be according to the area of application. Size: 2.0 m x 20.0 m rolls, 2 mm minimum thickness (sheets). 610 mm x 610 mm square size, 2 mm minimum thickness (tiles). C. Accessories: Types to match the tiles & sheets and as recommended by the manufacturer for the services indicated.

PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.01 A. INSPECTION Examine the areas and conditions under which resilient flooring is to be placed. Do not proceed with the work until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. PREPARATION The substrate shall be clean, dry, smooth, and flat. Remove all ridges and other irregularities. Fill all cracks, holes, and depressions with latex cement underlayment as recommended by the flooring manufacturer. Remove all paint, oils, release agents, waxes, sealers, and curing and hardening compounds not compatible with the adhesives employed. Avoid organic solvents. Moisture tests: Determine the suitability of the concrete sub-floor for receiving the resilient flooring, with regard to moisture content and curing compounds, by a

Subfloor cleaning: Broom or vacuum-clean sub-floor prior to the installation of the flooring material. Inspect floors for holes, cracks, and smoothness. Do not proceed with laying until sub-floors have been made smooth, holes and cracks filled, and floors are broom clean. Grind sub-floor surfaces if necessary to make smooth. Verify condition of sub-floor and determine if floor is level. Before installation of resilient flooring, apply a leveling layer of latex compound with a trowel to obtain no greater deviation than 4 mm (3/16) over 4.0 m (13). INSTALLATION General 1. Install flooring using method indicated in strict compliance with manufacturer's recommendations. Extend flooring into toe spaces, door reveals, and into closets and similar openings.

Maintain reference markers, holes, or openings that are in place or plainly marked for future cutting by repeating on finish flooring as marked on sub-floor. Use chalk or other non-permanent marking device. 3. Install flooring on covers for telephone and electrical ducts and other such items as may occur in finished floor areas. Maintain overall continuity of color and pattern with pieces of flooring installed on these covers. Tightly cement edges to perimeter of floor around covers.

Tightly cement tile to sub-base without open cracks, voids, raising and puckering at joints, telegraphing of adhesive spreader marks, or other surface imperfections. Hand roll flooring at perimeter of each covered area to assure adhesion. Tile Floors 1. Lay tile from center marks established with principal walls, discounting minor offsets so that tile at opposite edges of room is of equal width. Adjust as necessary to avoid use of cut widths less than 1/2 tile at room perimeters. Lay all tiles symmetrically about axis lines and toward outside edges in both directions. No tile shall be less than 1/3 tile. Lay tile in straight lines, in perfect alignment, without offsets in joints, and as per manufacturers directions. All joints shall be tight, closed, and even. All surfaces shall be in true, level plane, with no raised corners or edges. Do not roll tile. Extend tile into recesses, openings, and all similar conditions.

Cut edges of all tiles to fit accurately at walls, vertical surfaces, offsets, and at joining of tile and other floor finishes. Cut holes for pipes neatly so that floor plates or flanges cover same. Match tiles for color and pattern by using tile from cartons in same sequence as manufactured and packaged if so numbered. Cut tile neatly around all fixtures. Broken, cracked, chipped, or deformed tiles are not acceptable. 5. Adhere the flooring to substrates using recommended adhesive applied in compliance with flooring manufacturers directions.

Sheet Vinyl Flooring 1. Install sheet vinyl flooring in longest practical lengths to minimum 1/3 full material width and with sheet parallel to length of room. All seams shall be heat welded. Adhesive shall be spread for 100% bond between substrate and flooring material. Flooring shall be placed into position and rolled as soon as adhesive becomes tacky; roll in two directions to eliminate air bubbles and bulges. Immediately clean-up surplus adhesive with an approved cleaner. Seal all seams in the flooring: Use tools, materials, and a sequence of work, which are in conformance with the manufacturers written instructions. Heat weld the seams using complementary color welding rods. The rods shall be applied using the manufacturers recommended tools. Finish all seams flush to the floor and free from voids, recesses, and raised areas. Heat welding shall continue vertically along the flash coving.

Terminate resilient flooring at centerline of door where adjacent floor finish is dissimilar. Accessories 1. Apply skirtings, cove formers, capping strips, acoustic steps and decorative strips as required to complete the flooring. Apply skirting pieces to walls, columns, pilasters, casework, and other permanent fixtures in rooms or areas where skirting is required. Install skirting in lengths as long as practicable. Tightly bond skirting pieces to substrate throughout length of each piece, with continuous contact at horizontal and vertical surfaces. Follow manufacturers installation instructions to apply each accessory item.

Remove any excess adhesive or other surface blemishes from the work using neutral type cleaners, as recommended by the manufacturer. Protect installed flooring from damage by use of heavy kraft paper or other covering. Finishing: after completion of the work and just prior to the final inspection of the work, thoroughly clean sheets, tiles, and accessories. Protect and maintain the flooring as per the instructions of the manufacturer.
