Psoriatic arthritis is a chronic, progressive musculoskeletal disease that affects 0.1%-1% of the general population and approximately 20% of patients with psoriasis worldwide. Multiple subtypes of psoriatic arthritis have been identified. Severe psoriatic arthritis in which five or more joints are affected is referred to as polyarticular psoriatic arthritis. Polyarticular onset of psoriatic arthritis is considered an independent risk factor for erosive disease.
