Welcome to the official LinkedIn page for the National Quantum Mission (NQM) – an ambitious initiative approved by the Union Cabinet of India under the leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The NQM aims to revolutionize the field of Quantum Technology (QT) and establish India as a global leader in Quantum Technologies & Applications (QTA).
With a total investment of Rs.6003.65 crore from 2023-24 to 2030-31, the NQM is designed to seed, nurture, and scale up scientific and industrial R&D in QT. The mission seeks to create a vibrant and innovative ecosystem that accelerates economic growth driven by QT, while also addressing national priorities such as Digital India, Make in India, Skill India, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
Key objectives of the National Quantum Mission include:
1. Development of intermediate-scale quantum computers with 50-1000 physical qubits in various platforms like superconducting and photonic technology.
2. Establishment of satellite-based secure quantum communications within India and with other countries.
3. Deployment of long-distance secure quantum communications, inter-city quantum key distribution, and multi-node Quantum networks.
4. Advancement of magnetometers with high sensitivity in atomic systems and Atomic Clocks for precision timing, communications, and navigation.
5. Support for the design and synthesis of quantum materials such as superconductors, semiconductor structures, and topological materials for quantum devices.
6. Development of single photon sources/detectors and entangled photon sources for quantum communications, sensing, and metrology.
