Your presentation is not bigger then their problems! 10 Tips for delivering a better key message!
Being a better communicator means that you are operating in the 2nd highest level of value, imagination is #1. Yes! Being able to come up with the ideas and being able to communicate ideas means that you are operating at the highest levels of value, to your teams, companies and clients.
There are a lot of rules out there to follow and of course so many different styles. Check out this list I created to help you deliver a better key message!
- Ditch the slides and use visuals effectively: Consider drawing instead of using slides, yeah I said it! Get creative and use other visual aids to reinforce your points, but don't rely on them too heavily. Remember, you are the focal point of your presentation, and visuals should only serve to enhance your message. But what I love about adopting drawing and writing on white boards during presentations lately is, it allows people to go on a learning and discovery journey with you. Try to draw more!
- Develop your unique message: Identify your core message and purpose as a speaker. Be authentic and stay true to your beliefs and values. Your audience will connect with you better when you're genuine and passionate about your subject. Then don't get bored with it, get paid with it. You only need 1 signature talk, that you can deliver and sell over and over and over again. Don't be fooled into thinking you need a bunch of workshop topics.
- Know your audience: Their problems are bigger then your presentation...Always! And if you don't realize that, you can deliver an amazing message that doesn't lead to transformation or a transaction. Understand the demographics, needs, wants, desires, the problems keeping them up at night and most importantly the expectations of your audience. Tailor your message to resonate with them and make sure it's relevant and valuable to their lives. I teach you about the enrolling question during my upcoming 3 day challenge.
4. Engage and interact: Encourage audience participation by asking questions, seeking opinions, or incorporating activities. Did you know that Tony Robbins ask's a question every 60-90 seconds in his presentations? This makes your talk more interactive and memorable, and helps keep your audience engaged throughout.
5. Master storytelling: Use stories to illustrate your points and make them relatable. This will help your audience better understand and remember your message. Practice the art of storytelling to create an emotional connection with your listeners.
6. Be concise and clear: Eliminate fluff and unnecessary information from your talk. Deliver your message with clarity and precision, ensuring your audience can follow your train of thought and grasp your key points.
7. Focus on body language: Nonverbal communication is a critical component of public speaking. Practice good posture, maintain eye contact, and use gestures to emphasize points. These techniques will help you appear confident and approachable.
8. Be adaptable: Be prepared to adjust your delivery based on audience reactions or unexpected situations. Stay flexible and open-minded, and show your audience that you're able to handle any situation with grace.
9. Practice, practice, practice: Rehearse your speech multiple times before your presentation. Go live on social media and deliver to an audience, find a small stage with a small audience so you can work out your flow. This will not only help you become more comfortable with your material but also enable you to deliver your talk with confidence and ease.
10. Embrace feedback and continually improve: Seek feedback from your peers, mentors, and audience members to identify areas of improvement. Continuously work on refining your skills and learning from your experiences to become an even better keynote speaker.
