The significance of China's soy strategy

The significance of China's soy strategy

This week’s offerings include the first instalment of a new mini-series focusing on women in Caribbean aquaculture. It’s a region where the sector has struggled to gain a meaningful foothold, but over the coming months Dr Juli-Anne Royes Russo will be profiling some of the key women who are looking to change this.

Elsewhere we highlight FAI’s ambitious tilapia welfare project in China, while Greg Lutz offers some handy tips for improving your farming strategies. However, the article that’s fired my imagination the most relates to a Rabobank report exploring the impacts of China’s plans to reduce the use of soy in their livestock – and aqua – feeds. While most of us are concerned by more local issues, it’s a useful reminder of the importance of giving the bigger picture some thought.
