New World Working

Reflect - Regroup – Recalibrate - Recover

As the construction sector and associated supply chains begin a cautious return to operating what might ‘normal’ look like in your environment?

If you have had the opportunity to reflect upon how the business and personnel have functioned during the lock-down then what and where are the new opportunities and challenges?

To prompt the grey matter (if it wasn’t already short-circuited), this is a quick round up of discussion points that I am having with leaders / owners.

Internal

·        How have you flexed your leadership style and communication with the teams, with what results?

·        Has home working been productive and how might you continue with it in some guise?

·        What support might personnel require as they return to the office?

·        How are you monitoring any new processes that you have implemented to see if it’s worth keeping them?

·        Is it worth maintaining some of the cost saving measures you brought in, as they make complete sense?

·        Where have you found simple wins and how can you maximise this opportunity in terms of cashflow or market share?

·        Is there a cashflow forecast in place that allows for a number of scenarios?

·        What changes in behaviour might be expected from customers / clients?

Overall, how does the business need to look to be competitive in the new working environment?

External

·        What changes have you seen or can you expect in your supply chains?

·        How has the marketplace changed and what are the implications of these changes?

·        How has the competitive landscape altered?

·        Will recruiting be easier or more difficult and why?

·        Are your marketing messages still relevant?

·        Are there parts of the operation that could be outsourced?

·        Have there been changes to any regulations that we need to comply with?
