ON HUMANIZING YOUR BRAND TO WIN MORE BUSINESS

ON HUMANIZING YOUR BRAND TO WIN MORE BUSINESS

When it comes to growing your business, I know you want a positive cash flow, a growing audience of the right people who want to work with you, and the freedom to focus on your mission and live the life you’ve always envisioned.

In order to do that though, you need to differentiate yourself on LinkedIn to stand out as the best solution that helps your clients solve their problems or helps them achieve their goals.

But how does that happen?

There are plenty of ‘influencers’ who will tell you to produce 100 pieces of content and post it 5 times a day while living in an ivory tower with a full team of content creators, video content editors, photographers, and social media managers.

They can easily achieve omnipresence, stand out and increase sales on LinkedIn.

♛ How can a professional who is typically overlooked and undervalued do it?

♛ But how can the modern-day entrepreneur using LinkedIn do it?

♛ How can people who are non-techy do it?

♛ How can a sales team do it?

In this week’s issue of #WILDFIRE, I'll walk you through the essentials to start your journey to growing your client base and new opportunities using LinkedIn:

1. Understand What Makes You Credible to Others

Credibility: The quality of being trusted and believed in. When your credibility is high in your field, it can open a plethora of doors you had not even known were available to you. Your advice will be followed more often, and you will be sought out as a beacon of truth in your industry because you have built your profile with a service mindset.

That’s why it is so important to understand what you can add to your LinkedIn profile that will make you more credible to others.

Firstly, people rarely trust someone they cannot see, and a picture is worth 1,000 words, so it stands to reason that you should focus first on your profile picture.

Perception is the reality in the world of marketing and if you want to be perceived as a trusted voice in your industry, it starts with your profile picture.

Secondly, once you have updated your profile picture to position you as a leader that can be trusted, people will want to know what you know.

That means the goal here is to share and distribute informed insights. Consistency and frequency are key here. Having multiple posts about the subject you specialize in shows people that you are the subject matter expert.

Finally, create a personal hashtag that is easy to remember and speaks to your business and expertise. As an example, I use #TheLinkedInBlackBelt and when you search this hashtag, you will find years of content that I have put out.

Add your hashtag to your email signatures as well on other social media platforms you are using.

2. Tap into The Mind of Your Ideal Buyer

None of us are lucky enough to be able to read someone’s mind, and we all know how advantageous it would be if we could, right?

We go through studies, surveys, interviews, and a litany of other avenues just to get a glimpse into what our customers/consumers/buyers may be thinking.

So, while we work on our telepathic skills, here is a way to get in the mind of your ideal customer.

Do an assessment of your LinkedIn presence. Are you positioned to attract large companies? Small companies? Tech startups?

No map out what sort of customer you actually want to cater to and adjust accordingly. This will position you to stay top of mind and stand out as the obvious solution in your market

3. Develop a consistent message

There are too many people who are showing up as a “Jack of all trades” when there are benefits to being a master of one..

You want to be consistent with your message because you want people to know that this is the thing you do well. You want people to think of your expertise and immediately say, “I know someone who does that!” You want a reputation that precedes you.

4. Become A Trusted Advisor in your industry

For my movie fans out there, remember Luke and Yoda’s training montage? Or Mr. Miyagi teaching Daniel in the Karate Kid?

The long and short of it is that those were trusted advisors in their (very specific) fields.

Luke would not have learned to use the force as well from anyone else. It was Yoda’s specific skillset that helped set Luke apart from the average Jedi.

It was this skillset that aided him in destroying the Death Star.

Daniel clearly outranked all the other kids learning Karate, as evidenced by his ability to fight on one leg at the end of the movie through the strength of will alone.

Mr. Miyagi taught him the fundamentals that delivered the desired results.

That is the value you must give to become a trusted advisor in your industry.

  • Rather than attending conferences... speak at conferences.
  • Rather than subscribing to expert reports...create these expert reports.
  • Rather than putting out press releases for the brand...issue a press release about your newsworthy store.
  • Rather than using your logo in your marketing... use your face.

The net result is having a business and brand that works hard FOR YOU and pays off with the freedom to focus on your mission and live the life you’ve always envisioned.
