Humanizing agritech for farmer growth
Dear Reader,
We’re pleased to share the 28th edition of the agribazaar newsletter. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared June 14th as World Blood Donor’s Day (WBDD). The event reiterates our awareness of the need for safe blood, blood products, and voluntary donation. It is also a day when we thank countless donors for their life-saving gifts in the form of blood. Blood donation is a critical component of an effective health ecosystem, and donors need recognition for their selfless acts.
We also look at other events and innovations happening worldwide, in and around agritech.
In the Spotlight
Did you know British obstetrician James Blundell performed the first successful human blood transfusion on a patient in 1818? Blood transfusion and donation have evolved multiple times since then and today reached a stage where it is a crucial part of the overall health system worldwide.
At agribazaar, we recognized World Blood Donor’s Day by organizing a blood donation drive in Mumbai. The campaign was conducted in association with Red Cross Blood Centre, Mumbai, and saw active participation by the employees.
The Blood Donation Camp is a testament to our commitment to saving human lives. We thank all the donors who supported this campaign with their selfless acts of kindness.
Tech Showcase
agribazaar provides AI and ML technologies to assess crop health. By leveraging these technologies, farmers can make data-driven decisions, optimize resources, and organize timely harvests for better yields. AI and ML help detect diseases, facilitate precision farming, predict yield outcomes, manage weeds/pests, manage irrigation, manage nutrients, and identify crop genetics. These technologies have helped farmers in improved soil health and monitoring of crop trends.
Customer Speak
Traditionally, we took our goods to the local bazaar for selling them. We would use the available transportation facilities for taking our yields to the bazaar which was cumbersome. Moreover, it would damage the goods leading to lower prices. Using agribazaar took much less time to conduct the entire transaction with utmost transparency and I received better rates than usual.

Monitoring crop health is critical for optimum yields. For practical purposes, there are six crucial crop health monitoring parameters that every farmer needs to observe. These include soil moisture levels, nutrient levels, pest & disease infestation, crop growth stage, Leaf Area Index (LAI), and Crop residue or weed cover. This blog shows how farmers can use these metrics to ensure optimal crop health.
Industry Updates
India's agritech startups have risen from 50 before 2013 to over 2500 by 2023. A credible report predicts that a fully nurtured agritech ecosystem has the potential to increase farmer incomes by nearly 25 to 30 percent. Farmers are slowly accepting technology. However, small and medium farm holders, which comprise almost half of all farmers, have yet to access it. While the government pushes policies to empower the agricultural sector, agritech must play its part in accomplishing the desired growth.
