Duty, Honor, Country: Reflecting on Memorial Day

Duty, honor, country. Those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you ought to be, what you can be, what you will be.
 - General Douglas MacArthur

Memorial Day is a time of reflection, a time to honor the brave service members who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. It is a day to remember those who have fought and died to protect the freedoms that we enjoy every day.

The sacrifices made by our service members cannot be understated – they leave behind their families, their friends and their lives to defend our nation. They put themselves in harm's way, all for the sake of our freedom and safety. On Memorial Day, we remember the courage and bravery of those who have served our country. Their selflessness and dedication are what continues to make our nation strong and resilient, and we must never forget the price that has been paid for our freedom. We must also remember the families of our fallen heroes who have sacrificed so much for our country as well.

But Memorial Day is not just a day to mourn. It is also a day to celebrate the patriotism and bravery of our fallen heroes and a call for all to embody the same sense of duty and honor that they displayed in our day-to-day lives. It is an honor to work in an industry and for a company with a mission to bring our service members home safely to their families after they complete their mission.

Wise words Mr. Ulmer. Congratulations. As a NATO officer I had been treated as one of their own by American people while visiting the USA. It is the same after all we all strive to protect: our nation, the alliance, freedom, democracy, human rights et al. I have always respected the Lockheed Martin for giving chance to the veterans while doing business either as part of their supply chain or employment. This is a unique galant example that should be adopted by every nation. Thank you for being such a great example.

This is excellent Greg.  You’ve captured the meaning and spirit of Memorial Day, but also how this industry honors those who have gone before by serving current and future warfighters.  Lockheed Martin is fortunate to have you aboard.
