A Day to pay TRIBUTE to your GURU and to CELEBRATE your receptivity !!!

Guru Purnima is celebrated in India, Nepal, Bhutan and few eastern countries to pay tribute to the Gurus. Unlike fixed dates celebration declared by United Nation, Guru Purnima happens on different date, every year.

It is observed on the Full Moon day (Purnima) in the Hindu month of Ashadha (June–July) in the Hindu Calendar. This year (2022) it is on 13th July.

The festival was well celebrated by Mahatma Gandhi to pay tribute to his spiritual guru, Shrimad Rajchandra !

A simple translation of "Guru Purnima" for the world outside India is ...

Guru = Teacher, Professor and Purnima = Full Moon Day

Most of the people understand it as a Hindu Celebration. But in fact this is the day for EVERYONE around the WORLD !!

The guru is a mystical phenomenon mainly experienced by East. I read it somewhere that The Western world finds it hard to understand this phenomenon. But I think, It is not only about Western world but entire world except few Eastern countries and India.

As translation of "Guru" is Teacher or Professor who imparts knowledge (at cost). And that is what GURU is NOT (?).

Guru is a TRANSFORMER of one's life, not necessarily a teacher but anyone ! Literate or Illiterate, experienced or without experience, in the school or outside the school. Generally one who does not trade his teaching for money. A Guru is one who wants their disciples' (peers') life to be enlightened, transformed and better than before. In the broader sense he could be a friend, a philosopher or (for sure) a guide (for betterment) in your life.

There is an old proverb "A statue has never been setup in honor of a critic" becomes false when it comes about GURUs. I am sure most people from India (or East) would confirm, they respect and love their GURUs in spite they have been punished and criticized by them. You can find the statues of those who punished and criticized also !!

Because the punishment was for betterment of ones habit, understanding, education, behavior, ethics or principles. The criticism was to transform one.

Can you remember who helped you to be better? to excel in education? to get in-depth knowledge? to reach at your current position? to achieve your goals? to be enlighten? to become stress free? to excel in self development? to acquire additional skills? to learn music? to think? to learn letting go? to overcome the difficult situation? ..... ..... to be better at anything and be successful in your endeavors ?

Yes there are many !

This day gives us opportunity to pay tribute to those, irrespective of race, religion, relation, culture, age gap, education, background, society, geography, appearance, gender - anything.

And let's celebrate the knowledge we gained, the enlightenment we received to become the Better WE - with the help of all GURUs of our life.

With all respect to our GURUs making us transformed - now and forever - Happy Guru Purnima !
