1 percent inspiration...
The battle to establish fish farms in US Federal Waters has been so long and attritional that even the slightest hint of progress can be a cause for celebration. Hence Neil Sims’ positive response to receiving a permit to produce up to 20,000 kampachi at a site in the Gulf of Mexico. It may have taken four-and-a-half years, and - according to Sims - only equate to 1 percent of a fully functioning commercial fish farm, yet it could pave the way for a thriving sector.
Offshore aquaculture is one of many topics that I’m looking forward to hearing more about at today’s Blue Food Innovation Summit in London, an event that's shedding light on the latest innovations in the industry and why they are needed to feed the world's growing population.
