Accessibility Tip of the Day: Text in Images Avoid using images of text, as they can't be resized or translated. If you must use an image of text, make sure the alt text includes the exact text in the image. Ditch text in images! They're unfriendly to resizing and translation. Do you agree that everyone deserves equal access to the Internet? People who rely on screen reading software often experience the web differently, and this is an area where each of us can make a significant difference. ❓ What is alt text? Alt attributes act as a backup when primary content can’t be displayed. For example, if an image fails to load, the alt text provides a textual description instead. It’s crucial to offer the same information, regardless of how someone accesses your site. ➡ Here’s a line of code for an image: <img src="scene.gif" width="145" height="126" alt="A photo of a beautiful sunset"> BUT next time writing an alt text consider this: Instead of generic descriptions like the one above, screen readers need you to explain why the image matters. ➕ Also, ask yourself: Is the image functional, or merely decorative? 📢 Adding alt text to images on LinkedIn only takes a few seconds but significantly enhances the accessibility and performance of your content, ensuring equality for everyone. 🔶 Learn how to write effective alt text in 3 minutes by watching this video: https://t.ly/GS4os #Accessibility #alttext

Having some reflection about semantic zooming as a new digital metaphor for interacting with text almost like copy/pasting. However, zooming feels too graphical and physical movement oriented. How about scoping? Making a logo can be a good way to reflect about abstract ideas.🤔 Each ring could represent scoping up or down? Feel free to add your suggestion! Do you prefer any other metaphor for semantic zooming?

Hi! Continue with the #Accessbility tips to improve your website; another of the most common accessibility errors is the lack of alternative text for images. People with low vision can't see the images and use the screen reader that reads all content on a page, but if you include an image without the alt attribute, the screen reader can't read a description of the image. Adding a short and descriptive alt text is essential and only for images that provide some context. Decorative images like + Add with the Add word in a button are considered decorative because they include the text Add. An image that already includes a caption is considered decorative. With this and other minor changes, you can improve your websites. Thank you for reading and watching the video. Feel free to share the post to share the knowledge. Enjoy testing and developing with accessibility in mind. https://lnkd.in/gJ5EKYEW
