With only 10% of CEOs in Fortune 500 companies being women, there’s a lot of untapped potential. To shift the balance, we need to actively support women-led businesses, foster strong mentorship connections, and advocate for more diverse leadership at the top. The WIE Suite is dedicated to providing the resources and community that women in the C-suite need to drive this change and make those numbers grow. The impact of inclusive leadership speaks for itself—let’s work towards making it the norm. #WIESuite

As I sit in high-level committee meetings, I often find myself as one of the few women in the room. While I value the opportunity to contribute, this experience highlights a critical need for greater representation of women in leadership and decision-making roles. When women participate in discussions that shape strategies and policies, we not only empower ourselves but also bring unique insights that can drive success. It’s essential to advocate for women's involvement at all levels of decision-making. By fostering inclusive environments, organizations can unlock the full potential of their teams and create a culture that values diverse voices. Let’s continue to champion initiatives that promote women in leadership, mentor aspiring female leaders, and ensure that our voices are heard. Together, we can create a future where decision-making tables are equitable and diverse. #WomenInLeadership #DiversityAndInclusion #WomenEmpowerment

My final pearl of empowerment from the 30th annual UMW Women's Leadership Colloquium comes from our inspiring opening speaker, Christine Kennedy, IOM, CCE, CPC. 🙌 Be in rooms with people who raise and change the conversation. 🙌 During her welcome, Kimberly Young, Ed.D., MBA, MMH reminded us that a colloquium is a high-level conversation. These kinds of conversations matter—they engage and challenge us—and the day was full of them. Christine spoke about the power of intention and reflection, asking a thought-provoking question - What do you want to look back on a year from today and say happened as a result? She encouraged us to capture our insights throughout the day and identify the immediate and longer-term actions needed to achieve that result. She emphasized the value of focusing on the process (reflection) and then the product (application). Christine challenged us to spend time reflecting after a great experience—not just after a regret or trauma—and to choose stillness, even when it isn’t required. She reminded us, what you focus on expands. I’m choosing to focus on being in more rooms with people who raise and change the conversation. What are you choosing to focus on? And if you have recommendations for rooms I should be in, please share them in the comments! #PearlsofEmpowerment #UMWColloquium #WomenLeaders

Women are breaking barriers and leading the way! By Q1 2024, 73.5% of senior roles in women-owned businesses were held by women, more than doubling the 35.6% seen in the broader private sector. These figures reflect the powerful strides women continue to make in leadership and decision-making positions.
