Strategic Employee Relationships: The Heart of Organisational Success Sifting through one of the many reports produced on employee engagement, a statistic stood out. 71% of senior executives affirmed that it was vital to their company’s success - which begs the question, why only 71%? In this post-COVID, war-for-talent environment, delivering an exceptional Employee Experience (EX) has never been more pressing. A few more numbers that tell the story. - A staggering 84% of employees report less than full engagement at work (ADP). - Nearly half the workforce has exited a job that failed to meet their expectations (ThriveMap). - Highly engaged teams boost profitability by 23% (Gallup). Unlocking employee engagement and retention The game has changed for good, driven by the impact of COVID, the deployment of new technologies, hybrid ways of working and generational variations. Traditional employee engagement won’t work. The generational impact is profound. Beliefs, ideas, goals and preferences have always varied - the current workforce make-up has thrown that into sharper focus. Gen Z now represents about 25% of the workforce and millennials a further 35%. These generations in particular are focused strongly on health, wellbeing and a sense of purpose. More than ever, an effective employee experience represents the baseline for engagement and retention. This requires a deep understanding of what employees expect from their employers.
