🌍 World Food Day 2024 🌍 Right to Food for a Better Life and a Better Future As we mark #WorldFoodDay2024 here in Rome, let us reaffirm our commitment to the right to food for all. In reimagining and reengineering our food systems, it is important that we create policies that are #inclusive and #equitable. In low- and middle-income countries, the informal food retail sector plays a pivotal role in feeding a large section of the population, yet it often receives less attention in policy discussions. To truly uphold the right to food, we must ensure that these vital actors are actively included in policy discussions and supported in their efforts to provide safe, nutritious food. Together, we can work toward food systems that nourish both people and the planet. 🌱 #WorldFoodDay #WorldFoodForum #FoodSystems #FoodSecurity
🔴Starting soon! Join us for the #WorldFoodDay Ceremony to raise awareness about the #RightToFood for everyone, everywhere. 📅16 October 🕜10:00 CEST 📱 https://lnkd.in/evzcnrR9

Diversity! It can only bring good things to the industry, it’s tiring being the only one in the room ALL the time. It’s hard for Trans* and gender non confirming folk in this industry, especially with 1/3 of all employers in the UK admitting they would not hire a transgender person - and hospitality being one of the worst industries (34%). Many of us are forced into the closet or into restrictive boxes of passing in order to progress in our career or simply feel safe at work, in toilets and locker rooms. Few feel workplaces are liberal enough to tolerate transgender workers, with only 4% of employers declaring their workplace culture diverse enough for transgender people to ‘fit in’. With time! Just keep going.
We're inviting people from across the UK drinks trade to join us for a consultative open meeting on 16 April at Vintners’ Hall from 1pm to 4pm. This is in response to the issues raised in a survey commissioned by Queena Wong and run by PROOF Insight, with the first aim of the programme being to tackle safeguarding. Those interested in attending should contact [email protected] for further details.

TL;DR: new categories on map, seeking sponsorships, and donate today. Two new categories I'm working on fleshing out in my Zero Proof Nation Global Map 🗺️ ⚡️ ⤵️ 1) NA-friendly retailers (shops that aren't specifically non-alc but have a strong commitment to NA options, like DC's Salt & Sundry.) 2) NA-forward bars and restaurants (think non-alc tasting menus, equitable offerings, creativity on menus, etc. - like Kat Quinn Porco,'s One Legged Magpie / Soberbird in Montana). This is a huge undertaking and will gel together over time, with your help. Submit locations ⤵️ to the usual categories and the new ones today! Also, keep ZPN the NPR of NA and ensure this content remains free for EVERYONE. How to do that: Donate one-time or become a member: https://lnkd.in/e_T8H9Qh Subscribe to my Substack with a monthly, annual, or founding subscription: https://lnkd.in/dRYDETzQ Sponsor the newsletter ^ and map. The Ticket states Edmonton BeerFest or some variation – purchaser receive tickets to consumer trade shows (Free Events) as far away as Calgary, Jasper, Banff or bar/pub promotions. - Scammers use “Partner” and “Charities” – to advertise for them Advertisement states “Free admission to Edmonton BeerFest” with the purchase of a ticket to a different or “associated” event and in some cases even with a "charity" donation. There is a no refund policy on these tickets so once a purchase happens the attendee is unable to get a refund. Edmonton BeerFest Tickets are not on sale yet and are not available. If you have purchased a Fake ticket: -Please let us know so we can keep the appropriate people informed: - Email a picture of your ticket to [email protected] - Contact the seller of the ticket and let them know you were scammed and want a refund. - There are cases where the seller doesn’t realize they are apart this Cheers Edmonton BeerFest https://lnkd.in/ggNPZKeG

Poco Culina @pococulina hosted Shop Cotswolds networking event on Wednesday, for food and drink producers in the Cotswolds and Forest of Dean region. Food and drink producers came together to share best practice with their peers and to learn from the guest speakers. Lindsey Holland, owner @cleevehillhotel, shared her top tips on how to pitch to the hospitality sector. Claire Dovey from @goodfoodcheltenham also spoke on ‘Sourcing good ingredients to work with and Environmental concepts to think about'. Claire says ‘In today's crowded marketplace, consumers want to know where their food has come from, how far it has travelled, and its production methods. There are many ways to source GOOD ingredients but thinking outside the box can add to your product's story. Why not collaborate with your local urban community growing scheme like Project Grow in Cheltenham, plan next year's produce with your local CSA farmer or source from your community allotment scheme like Poco Culina has this year. Not only does this add to the providence of where your food is sourced it adds a community or charitable angle to your whole product.’ The session was wrapped up with both Lindsey and Claire, under the umbrella of the Cheltenham Food Board, recognising the journey of an ingredient from start to end, and what food and drink producers can do locally to ensure ethical values match commercial plans. #cotswolds #forestofdean #foodanddrink #ethical #sourcing #hospitality #event #networking #goodfood #ingredients #urbangrowing
