Eight-year-old Jason has been on our waiting list since March, suffering from sleeplessness, headaches, and school refusal. After a work restructure, his mum is struggling to find a new school-friendly job which, combined with a 30% rent increase and other rising living costs, is causing family strain. The family is forced to consider moving, which Jason dreads due to fear of losing his school and friends. He repeatedly asks his dad, "Are we poor?" Their GP suggested Jason's symptoms were anxiety-related and recommended Expressive Therapy with us. With 45 other children on our wait list, Jason's case highlights the urgent need for assistance to prevent these issues from becoming lifelong problems. Consider making an EOFY tax-deductible donation to help us get more children like Jason into therapy sooner. Donate today: bit.ly/KidsXpress_EOFY2024

Rape is not just a personal tragedy—it carries a devastating economic toll. The CDC estimates that the lifetime economic burden of rape per victim in the U.S. is $122,461, including medical costs, lost productivity, and mental health care expenses. For many survivors, this burden adds to the trauma they already endure. At Silverleaf, we believe no one should face these challenges alone—or worry about the cost of getting help. That’s why all our services are provided completely free of charge to survivors and their families. From therapy sessions to advocacy, we’re here to support survivors every step of the way. But we can’t do this without your help. Your donation makes it possible for us to continue providing life-changing services to those who need them most. 💙 Together, we can lighten the load for survivors and help them heal. 📲 Donate today at silverleafky.org/donate #SupportSurvivors #HealingTogether #DonateForChange

I am once again reaching out to my network to talk about a topic no one wants to talk about. Suicide is a very real issue in the world. In the United States alone we saw nearly 50,000 suicides in 2022, a 2.6% increase from 2021. Those numbers represent actual people in our communities. 50,000 mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, best friends, and more lost. What those numbers don't show are the people who attempted but didn't pass away. It also doesn't show those who were left behind when a loved one made that decision. Many lives are impacted when someone makes that choice. Every year I contribute to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention 's "Out of Darkness Walk" here in San Francisco. We raise money to provide money for research and services to help address this issue. This issue is very important to me as I believe our mental health is important and that every life deserves to be saved. Every year I ask my network to donate to this cause to help us save lives. If it is in your heart to give, please do so. Any amount helps. Please click my official fundraising page below and donate if you can. Together, we can all save lives. If you are suffering and need someone to talk to, please dial 988 in the United States. For other nations, here is a list of international number -> https://lnkd.in/dEkeBpFp #savinglives #suicideprevention

For many families, a diaper is not just a diaper. It's a crucial necessity that can determine whether a child can attend early childhood programs or not. Unfortunately, diaper insecurity is a harsh reality for far too many caregivers in our state. Listen to Brightpoint’s Policy Manager, Eric Mayo, talk about diaper need and policy solutions that will help families throughout Illinois. Read more about Diaper Insecurity here, https://lnkd.in/gzi-f5Hv. For $10 a month, you will support our efforts to eliminate diaper insecurity for Illinois infants and young children! Together, we can make a lasting impact and ensure that no child in Illinois suffers from diaper insecurity. Most of the time, there are warning signs. We might not want to admit it, but most of the time, they are there. Most of the time, it is a scary situation, how a person will react if you ask them about it, what will you do if they admit to being in a bad place. Other times we just don't want to get involved, we have to much on our own plate. But my lesson, that I share with you today is: If you care about them, be courageous enough to ask, be willing to listen, and learn about the resources available to both of you. Resources that I recommend: 👍 American Foundation for Suicide Prevention ☎ #988 crisis line 📞 Local Crisis teams - google search for yours 💻 Employee Assistance Program (EAP) - offered by most employers 👥 Survivors who share their stories #bevulnerable #listen #beprepared #advocate
